I have a JC's LWPU gearcase with the full nose cone. I am needing to have the top 1\2 of the leading edge of the cone cut down to clear the trim cylinder on my ss center section. Can my present cone be modified or do I need to get a new case and start over? Any suggestions? Anyone know if this can be done or is there a completely different nose casting I need to find?
Thanks,
Russ
It might be possible to cut but there is a water passage running up the front of most nosecones about 1 inch back from the leading edge.
I had the same problem with a Bob's nose cone, measured and cut the top portion of the nose cone. I then welded the top of the nose cone sealing off the water passage, then tapped a new hole on the side of the nose cone. Is still working fine for me.

That is what I am thinking about doing. My has the enclosed water tube at the top but I and seriously considering modifying it. It needs to look something like the gearcase on Steve Z'z Mirage. Is that how yours looks?

I had a 20"mid-section on my Mirage. I sent it to Eagle One and had them cut five inches out of the mid-section to make it a SS. When I received it back, the top of the nose cone hit the trim cylinder. I measured and cut the cone to fit under the trim cylinder.
