View Full Version : Merc NLA parts...will 2.5 mid parts work?

I recently had my midsection powdercoated to make it look all pretty before putting the STV back together. Got everything done, but it looks like they lost one back of parts. I can get most of what is missing, but some of the parts are listed as NLA - no longer available on http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com

These seem to be generic items to me, but I want to make sure. The mid is an early 90's 2.4 offshore piece. I used the serial number 0C276155 to look up the parts. Here is a pic of the parts that come up. I have drawn an arrow at the parts I need. For this year motor, they come up as NLA.

Can a 2.5 serial # be used and the parts still fit? I mean, an offshore is an offshore, at least for these items, right?

Here's the pic:

lemme look in the garage and shed and if i have them i'll send them to ya no charge

there was a mid clamp here in my shed, not shure if i have it left from getting pounder put together or not but i'll go and check when i get home from work :)

edit:

and yes for the most part the single ram style clamp on a 2.4 is the same as the 2.5

No, 2.4 or 2.5 offshore mids.

go here:

and you can look up parts without the S/N. If I read it right the 2.5 part is the same. It's pretty pricey though.

I think I have the cover plates (#2) but not the other parts you need. The plates I have are off a 1977 1750. Look to be the same, though.

I have everything but number 32 in the picture. If I can't find a set somewhere, I'm going to have to fabricate them. Can't believe Merc doesn't offer the parts anymore?

The #32 piece fits in where the trim sensor and trim limiters go (one on each side). On the offshore, when those are not used, these are the dummy blanks that take their place.
