Syndicate Spring Fling/Aerial Shoot Final Info and DATE CHANGE!!!

Due to a lack of hotel rooms available on the orignal date, the date has been changed to March 20th for the photo shoot itself, and the Sunshine Syndicate Spring Fling will be that entire weekend starting Friday the 19th until Sunday the 21st. Information is as follows:

Lodging: Inn on the Green which is right in between the ramp and the main event location.
Group rate for rooms is $59 per night, I have 30 rooms blocked out and be sure to tell them you are with the "Apollo Imaging photo shoot" to receive the discount. The cutoff date is March 3rd, after that the rooms are no longer reserved and you will no longer receive the special group rate, So hurry up and reserve your rooms for March 19th and 20th!!!

Food and Drinks: Dead River Vic's which is easily accesible by land or water has been fantastic in their efforts to accomidate us. For all event participants (which will be identified by a free wristband) there will be $1 drafts and $1.50 bottles all weekend long!! In addition to there excellent menu, the majority of which are items for $10 or less. There will be live music there Friday and Saturday nights. This will also be the location where all photos are sold at They have a large dock for water access that can easily accomidate 25+ boats.

Ramp: Hickory Point Park. This is a very large facility right by the US 19 ramp that goes over Little Lake Harris. It has acres of parking and ramp facilities that are large enough to launch 12 boats simultaneously! There is however a $2 entry fee to get into the park and a strict no alchohol policy in the park, so you have been forewarned. But with the drink specials all weekend at Vics it shouldnt be a problem at all;)

Detailed instructions as well as exact times for the photo shoot itself will be posted in the weeks following. I should however point out that each boat will run and be photographed INDIVIDUALLY therefore I can GUARANTEE (barring any bad weather which is out of my control) that everyone that participates in the photo shoot will have a picture of their boat.

Even if you have no desire for photographs this is a weekend not to be missed, however due to the length of time I will be spending on each individual boat I will ask that if you have no desire whatsoever for any photos to stay out of that portion of the weekend and just enjoy the people and fun. But if you have any inkling that you might possibly even think that you want a photo then by all means participate, you are not obligated in any way for anything by doing so:)

It is really looking to be a great time for all involved and a great weekend, so I hope to see as many people there as possible.

Also if you would not mind, could you please post a larger scale map of where in Florida this would be. I may have some holydays in and around that time. Sure would be nice to break the monotony of the winter up here.

Yes you are correct, I didnt realize it at first but after you mentioned it I checked the schedule and it does conflict with the Crescent City race.
Its not good because im sure there were some of the racers that wanted to attend. I did my best while planning to set it up not to conflict with anything else, but do to a long list of circumstances this is the only weekend until late in the summer that it will be able to be put on.
I apologize to everyone that wont be able to attend due to the conflict but I hope to see as many there as possible:)

I was guranteed the rooms will be blocked out by Sunday so if you call on Monday everything will be good to go. I called today and they gave me several excuses why they werent ready yet but it basically boils down to them being incompetent. But everything should be good to go on Monday and you can call then, remember the cut off date is March 3rd!

you have to mention Apollo Imaging then they know how to book the blocked rooms

normal room rate is 79 to 89 a night at this time of year and lamar did us a good deal...........59 a night!! :D

Myself and a few other people involved in this are very discouraged at the apparent lack of interest in the event. Not real sure why that is but it is very easy to spot.

Keep in mind that although in the past I was unable to get shots of everyone this time each boat will be shot INDIVIDUALLY so I will be able to GUARANTEE that everyone that wants one will get a shot of their boat. This will also improve the photo quality dramatically as I will be spending more time on each boat.

Also there is about a 99% chance this will be the only public helo shoot I do this year, and quite possibly the last one I ever do. So if anyone would want a cool aerial shot this may be the only chance to get one.

Even if you have no desire for photos you can come and enjoy the company and the drink specials.

Unfornately unless there is a substantial rise in interest in the next week or so I will be left with no other option than to cancel the event entirely:(

I'm sorry to hear about the weak response for it is obvious you have done extensive leg work to pull the photo shoot off.

It could be the conflict of dates that I mentioned in an earlier post on this thread or the fact that may guys are prepping for the start of the season.

I would suspect that your response would be more positive if it included an actual race day and venue that included several classes of boats,i.e., Eustis where drags and OPC's compete on the menue (not against each other)..

Hell I'd probly split the cost of the Helo if I could ride and shoot along with you.

I know one on one photos of a specific craft is popular but I find it more in demand and at the same time more rare for deck to deck in competition shots.

i'll commit! even though my ride is down, thats not to say i won't have another. i spotted the post a while back but not having a running rig i was hesitant to even look at the post since i may miss a great time, screw it, i had to look, i'll try and talk it up w/some locals here. keep an eye out, and look for a call, i need some copies of my "fairwell flight" of the Action. fun out :cool:

Yep, remember that one real well. It was the first boat event I ever sold photos at and the day I shot my first magazine article:cool: Me and Pat split about 3 cases of beer and Gator Lake Mike gave me a couple burgers (a real lifesaver:) )
