sorry for asking so many questions but i cant find any info on the net about these boats . why is the steering on the left on the aristocrat? i thought normaly it was on the right to offset prop torque. plus how are they for skiing?and i would like to get a rear seat any ideas where i could find one?

i think the steering was on the left because of modvp racing always turning to the left. i don't know how the aristocrat is for skiing but my SST20 is great with a small wake.
I don't think so---- Race boats s are sold bare hull, and most use pully+ cable = center steer!

the aristacrat had the bump out in the dash on the left side and didn't really give you a place for center steer.

The aristocrat wasnt a race boat. Too heavy. They came rigged with the wheel on the left (I believe) because the boat was offered in jet and I/O and many dealers were in the habit of rigging them that way for jets. The back seats that came in them were upholstered pie wedge shaped pieces of wood that bolted to the floor in the rear corners, and an "L" shaped seat back that bolted to the gunnel and the splash well. The 2 back seats weren't connected. I think you'd be better off getting some plywood and making a decent rear seat, then have it upholstered. Mine weren't very comfy. I don't have anything but 35mm pics and I don't have a scanner or I would post some photos. I loved the looks of mine but it wasnt fast. Mid 70's with a BP carb. Rode great in rough water as long as you get on top of the chop. They pull skiers great. The hp rating is "unlimited", so a 300x would be the ticket.

Oh ya, the Aristacrat and the SST were produced at the same time, one didn't supercede the other. The Aristcrat was discontinued while the SST stayed in production. The Aristacrat has been around since about 1976 and the SST came out about '79 or 80 if I recall correctly. The SST was a bit lighter, and was offered in flyweigh raceboat trim if you wanted one.
