How does a real Merc Lightning ET compare to the ET cut Chopper II's that some of the better prop shops are making? Is there a difference in performance or durability?

Does anybody have experience with both?

I have run both and saw no real difference. The ET cut choppers I had ran a bit faster on top but that was due to the extra cupping that Aquaholic put in. Aquaholic says that his cut choppers work a bit better on tunnels and boats that dont need bow lift because he doesnt cup them all the way around the tips of the blades. I have a few friends that run both types, some prefer one, some prefer the other. I don't see a lot of difference except in my wallet. The cuts are much cheaper. You may want to contact Aquaholic through this board. He should be able to answer all your questions.

I had a true 28 ET on my Euro with a 96 260/sportmaster with cut heads. Best all around prop I ever ran on it. Seemed to do everything well on the Euro, good hole shot, great acceleration, and great top end. It could even carry a load decent...2-110lb women 2-170lb guys, a full tank and a full cooler and it would still run hard. My point is I know you cannot go wrong with an ET on a Euro. If you get a chance try them both.

The original ET's from Merc were cut from Choppers. Only later did they develop a specific casting for the ET.
