Just set-up my Christmas present to myself and was wondering if anyone was using an aqueous parts washer out there in Scream and Fly land. The washer is heated and I am using a citrus based solvent now and it is doing a decent job. Looked on the web and found a product called Mirachem 500 that says it will disolve carbon build up. Anyone tried it??

Ive got one of those BIG $$ part cleaners that uses that tree hugger cleaner Aquatine or something like that that came with the cleaner and it works fine on alum. parts that is semi dirty BUT for stubborn grease I have 3 parts cleaners with one with paint thinner ( Most aggressive claener ) next a simple green solution ( next most aggressive ) and the Big $$ one for the least aggressive cleaning. Also this solution if for aircraft parts ( alum ) and works best at a heated temp of about 108* to 110 *.....

Hope I didn't ruin your Christmas present !If that stuff works any better let me know cause this 5 gal mix is BiG $$ and 5 gal mixed with water to make a 25 gal mix !

Happy Holidays !

Simple Green concentrate. I sprayed some on some pistons and let it sit a while. The carbon pretty much wiped off!!

A friend of mine used Castrol Super-Clean on his 90 HP Merc pistons. Said the carbon just ran off as soon as he sprayed it on. He had tried Simple Green but it didn't remove all the deposits.

You do have to be careful when using this stuff as it's EXTREMELY alkaline and will eat up aluminum, paint, etc if left on too long.

He only left it on the pistons for a few minutes. Be sure to wear gloves and use it in a well-ventilated area.

I'll probably use Simple Green in my solvent tank to get most of the gunk off, then follow with a light spritz of the Castrol stuff as necessary for final cleanup.
