Jack plate question

I just bought a Bullet 20 bass boat with a 9" Rapid jack jack plate. I haven't used the boat yet as I am going through everything first. This is a manual jack plate that is adjusted so high that the line of the prop shaft is pretty close to the line at which the water comes off the planing pad. What are the guidelines as to the set up of jack plate heights??

E-Mail Paul Nichols, he has a post on the Racers Hang Out Forum, look down the thread starter column. He is the master on Bullet Boats! He'll probably tell you to start with a 14" plate.
