My beloved all Black '01 Silverado Z71 is history. Loved my truck, had no plans to sell it but...........................

With GM giving big rebates on the '04's, and with the '99-'02 engine noise problems getting press, and the small back seat of the extended cab making long trips uncomfortable for back seat riders, we switched to an Avalanche. It's a big ugly galoot, but I get the same gas mileage (16-18) and the back seat is great. This is what happens when you let your wife have a big say in what you buy! :rolleyes:

Avalanche this summer. Like you said with the GM incentives, GM credit card discount, GE employee discount and discounts for the discounts, I couldn't say no.
It's a pulling machine, but you can't throw much junk in the back like the old truck. The only time I get 16-18 is going downhill with the wind. I've averaged 15.6 over about 6k miles.

Scott, I'd love to tow a blue/gray Allison around! Know anyone that is giving one away???? ProSport or GrandSport? Heck, I'd even take a SS2000.....;) I was looking for a new toy, but the Av just took ALL toy money away for a few years..........

Bruce, I was going for a WBH model myself, but couldn't find one that I liked the day I was buying so had to get the ugly cladded model............:rolleyes: As for the gas mileage, I've got the 'average fuel economy' displayed full time, so I keep my foot out of it.........With all the discounts and rebates and GM card, I got $11,000 off this bad boy!

Thanks Baja200Merc! I've got my fingers crossed...There's alot to go wrong after the warranty runs out.........:(

What's the deal with the chunky dude wearing nikes mural on the back of your tailgate ?? Was that a factory mural or a "custom job" ?? Scott :D

JW, I thought the mural idea was a "70's" retro look thing ! I would have gone for the deer/hunter or some kind of fish/ocean motif, BUT everyone has their own tastes !! Scott :D :cool:

Yup, very informational just like this site! I got in a little fender bender and replaced the grill with a red one I found on ebay. My original plan was to paint it white but it matched the decals on the hood and box and also the seats have red stripes.

Nice ave you have.
