Last roadtrip started out the same with the exssesive packing the truck smoking as soon as we hit the highway and the bumper to bumper traffic, then I heard that sickening crunch noise. When I checked the mirror my boat had climbed into the back of my truck. Here are some shots of the fun.

Ya I got lucky Rapidcraft makes a real good boat. It ripped all three tie downs and crushed my transom saver. But no damage to the hull or the Merc. Not even a bent prop.

damn people.. i guess they wanted a closer look;)

you need to put a sign now on the back of the trailer in little letters that says:

"if you can read this sign, my prop is in your grill"

That sucks. Maybe the driver in the van was checking out their kids new DVD player...

Glad your rig is ok, that is amazing.

It's a shame you got rear ended, but I can't believe the motor & transom ended up unscathed while dishing out that much punishment to the minivan! I'm guessing the Merc's hydraulics provided some give and acted like an energy absorbing bumper.

something similar happined to me except i got the ticket. at a turnpike rest stop at a stop sign, had some one backing towards me. checked all mirrors, looked out driver side window, no one behind me, slowly back up two feet. heard honking, stopped. got out of my truck to see my skeg a foot and a half up the hood of a range rover. right in frount of the drivers seat. he was way to the right, thats why i couldn't see him. and obviously up my a$$ for my skeg to go so far. i said "gezz how close were you to me?". to which the 6 foot something black man replied " you backed into me sssweety" with a hiss... i thought a tire was leaking, his male travling companion said " oH my gossshh, the sssame thing happined to amanda!!, sssomeone backed into her once!! (ad hiss sound here, "once" lookes funny spelled with a hiss). the driver ran (ran?? sauntered!!) for a cop... i got back in my truck and waited for the impending ticket!!!

I am so sorry to see that happen to such a great looking Twister!
Looks like the van pushed the boat a few feet up the trailer.

That totally sucks. Glad nobody was hurt but I think there would have been some serious temptation for somebody to lose a few teeth. Sure hope insurance covers it all.

I live in constant fear of that. I rigged a set of small LED lights that clamp onthe cav plate. At least when it gets hit they can't say they didn't see it.

I knew a guy with a 28' with twins, and he had the trailer go out past the drives. It opened like a door to get the boat off. Never figured out if I liked that or not.

Glad to hear that there was min damage. I just put a 300X on mine right at the end of the year and only have break in time on it. What speed did you see with yours and which prop?

It took 11 hours to get from the south side (chicago) to Milwaukee I stopped by the chain to get the boat back on the trailer. I tied it up with dock lines and ski rope then used my brakes very carefully. But things turned out ok thanks to a generous insurance settlement and no one got hurt.

Father Steve I have Bill Gohr working on the power head now. But I would like to get togather next spring. I don't get to see many Rapidcraft's and I am wondering what a Twister would run like with that big 300x.

glad to see the rapidcraft again, not in this situation tho,i'd be very irate some idiot box run into my boat tail gateing, anyway I spent quite alot of seat time in that boat when it had twin motors on it it was fast 114 MPH like flying it was my brother in laws boat ,barrington ill,I wont say his name ,I'll let him do that, speed wise about 85 with 1 motor, when we tow our 23 elimanator daytona with twin 260's makes me wonder who is going to ruin my weekend. You should have kept it with both engines. Then that mini-van would have really been messed up. His and Hers dents. Plus your insurance settlement would have been twice as much.

Seriously though, your boat looks really great! ;)
