Hey Sparky how come you don't post on *** much any more? This is my first post here in a year I know. Figured since I bought that inboard Carlson instead of jetmech's o/b Lib I wouldn't really identify with the outboard guys.

I almost bought packinair's Sanger, but didn't like the motor placement. That's a beautiful boat though. Sharp interior.

Hi,

The Offshore forums never really took off, and most of our readers seemed to prefer this forum to the other. I thought about adding sections to this forum to accomodate the Offshore guys, but that decision (like all others) is up to all of you!

Greg:)

How about as a section of this S/F??
It was a great site here while it lasted but it (as Greg said) never did much.
I think part of it was timing as I think it started about the time Offshore Only was taking off.
I signed on to that board too but quickly became bored and never went back. Too much bench racin and not enough "real" racing, playin and thrashing like we do on this board.
I have nothing against any of those I/O guys but so far almost everyone I've met would rather sit at dock and look at shiny (slow) chrome and bikini's than run!! I do both of the above but not untill the boat's out of gas!!
Scream and Fly is about as close to being the oppositte of that as anything I know!!
Thank You Greg!!
P.S. As far as O/B Offshore guys go too it seems that their are very few of us. Mostly N.Y., N.J. and Fla.

Hey Cordell, did you ever get your engines sorted? I remember you had a problem with one of them soon after you bought the boat.
Cheers

The high performance outboard high performance community started it ALL!!! Period!! The early innovators where the first to experiment with jacking the drive hieghts up on outboards while increasing prop pitch/size......therefore more speed........the I/O guys followed suit.....but only years later. Just one of the many innovative ideas.

If you look at present day, compare the outboard drag setups to the offshore setups........outboard drag guys are miles, I mean miles ahead of the offshore guys. And every so often a drag specialist gets involved with an offshore team....what happens?? An UNbeatable combo.........!! Also, give credit where credit is due, the offshore punishment has lead to the developement of stonger gearcases, drives, engines and hardware. But for all out horsepower, the outboard out of the box thinking and grass roots american inginuity is quite a story.

This is coming from a guy that races both(pro-fuel drag and offshore pro-stock, and future offshore PX class Inboard skater).

I think we need to concentrate on our core values and recognize what I have said above. The offshore crowd is more than welcome here and there are alot of experts and knowledge that can be shared from the brainiaks that abound. But, we need to keep it outboard venued.

In closing, when our PX ride is complete there will be recognition of Scream and Fly somewhere on the hull......This is one fantastic website!!!

Trbocharge, We are talking about an Offshore section on here for OUTBOARDS, that take a beating flying in and out of the water!!!! I have Twin 250 Yamahas' on a 26ft Ocean Express Cat. Hoping to keep my gearcases in one piece, the point is some important info sharing that might not make it on the board from an inland or lake race perspective Read the post's WE ARE ON YOUR SIDE....... Hello anybody out there?:D ;) Not for I/O's there are plenty of forums for that out there already!

Jolley,

We ran a boat called Pancrecarb back in 2000(SBI National Champs)...triple 2.5's...we retired the boat after the Worlds(nothing wrong with it, the owner wanted to get into a supercat or superboat unlimited(Px).....the owner finally got his funding for a 36 skater and has placed his order. We will be running big power (top secret)......I was also involved with a pro-stocker from the early 90's call Insanity (2x World Champ).

Never a need to apologize Jolley. You see, I came from an offshore backround.......and to tell you the truth, If I knew half of what I know now, just from the information on this site, I cant imagine the many races that I would have won.......and too boot, I was in the performance marine business for 5 years way back........

The way I see it, the outboard fanatic that didnt have a ton of money to spend on engine mods and all.....sat down and started to experiment........this creativity of moving engines up and down, profiling gearcases, blueprinting bottoms...ect ect came from good ole american inginuity, like I said earlier............and I believe there is not enough credit given to those outboard guys of the past and the innovators of today. I am far from a guru.....and I am ever learning from gathering information...mostly from this site. When I have a technical question, I come here and I get the correct answer........and I give answers.

This Scream and Fly deal is going to, and is, setting things straight and give those who deserve credit their due and recognition....Greg has created something that has gone beyond the boundaries of any other website or media or industry..........I just would like to see the mainstream of this site to follow its roots......its important.

We should be running PX hopefully by the end of 2004. At the races feel free, as for all scream and flyers, to stop in and say hello. Name of the boat will be DCI Pancrecarb Offshore Special.

Matt,
Thanks for asking and for all of your help.
I have had two trouble free summers after having a replacement powerhead installed. Some other items replaced were the injection pump, fuel pump, and detonation module.

As I sit here and look out the window at the snow comming down it's nice to be able to think back about those good times on the water and those 80 degree days.

I'd love to see an offshore branch on S&F! I/O's, OB's, surface drives, whatever. I'm there!

To few was using the offshore site, s@f is the best place to share boating knowledge as I know. The Mercury knowledge here is the best !
There is maybe a few questions that are conserning a offshore boat
with twin instalation like how wide, high ++
We have had treads covering skater boats and setup that is getting the attencion from the offshore guys, that want to follow the other treads allso . I think that is the perfect way when the amount of users are like we have now. If we had a offshore site and asked a teknical question and all the gurus where reading on an other site there will be no fun....I think thats what happened to the offshore site ,its to much work logging into a lot of different sites in my opinion.Maybe a offshore discussion could be added under s@f when we look for new posts or todays posts it will come up.
thanks for a great place to share boating entusiasm.

It might be fruitful to post a poll to see how much interest there is on that subject. In a new forum, it will be accessible to those of us who use the "view new posts" feature, without inconveniencing those who care nothing about offshore stuff.

I for one would be surfing that forum! It would give me a place some pic's of the new 32' cat thats on the drawing board with a 12" wider tunnel new free board sides and a new deck! I never 31' Cig bullet with strap on's before how she run?

I like the Offshore forum idea.I would rather race OS than drag if I had a choice.I don't think you can compare the two by setup or anything. You run a drag boat 80 miles and you'll have to stop 3 times to rebuild it.Hearing an outboard wfo is sweet,2 or 3 sing a sweeter song though. My 2¢.

Vicious,
My boat is a 31 Cigarette Decathlon Center Console. I am told by people who worked at the Cig factory that it was the predecessor
to the 31 Bullet hull. They enclosed the deck and added I/O power.

The boat weighs in around 8000lbs and runs in the low 60's.
I wanted a boat that was solid, stable, and could handle the waters of Lake Erie. It has worked out great for us and we really like all of the room when floating around the lake or docked up at our favorite places.
