It's time to get the old rubber and rope rubrail off the fly but I'm struggling to find something I like. Basically what I've found is about the same as what I have except it has a tube in it instead of rope. I like for my rubrail to be able to rub and or bang and not go to ****. Suggestions welcome and pics appreciated.

Check this website:http://www.tacometals.com/ and see if you find what you like. If you can't get it locally up there, I can get it for you down here and ship it to you.

They have all kinds..... solid rubber, rubber w/ inserts, rigid plastics, and extruded aluminum with & without inserts...

Fly, Mcmaster Carr has rub rail at about 30 percent cheaper than boat suppliers sell it for, they don't call it rub rail but use it for interior wall trim, it's made by a manufactuer in Maine or somewhere way upstate, I don't remember, I contacted the manufactuer 3 days before july 4th and they could'nt get it out but told me Mc Master was a dealer for them but called it something other than rubrail...wall trim I think, check them out, Kevin

I've done several and a lot depends on the deck to hull seam on the boat. II'm sure you already know that but that is the limiting factor in a lot of cases.
I have done the aluminum extruded base with the rubber inserts (very easy) and solid rubber, one piece style (also very easy, but harder to get it straight).
The solid rubber definatley takes an impact, or scuff better and is easier to find in different colors.
I've also done a few with the solid aluminum/stainless oval strips.
That's the best for scuff resistance but transfers 100% of shock to deck/hull joint.
I had just redone a 21' Laser and was trying to get into a dock durring heavy wind and lost power at the worst possible time.
The bow being so high in the air, caught the wind and instantly spun the boat around and put the side of the bow into an iron pipe/piling!!
Put a spider web crack about 10" long in the deck and hull as well as bending the rub rail. (was the last boat I did that way)
There is another website, I think DIY.net that has several variations but may be the same as the tacometal site??
Hope this helps, and you find what you want.

I'm going to measure up and put the smallest rail on I can that will also take a pounding. Ray I'll give you a call on Monday if I get a chance to pop over.

David are you still running a Stream ? Im also ready for some new rub rail on my stream/ X-stream. I hear they are still making them up there. Mine is the rubber style that is held on by the same rivots that hold the deck to the hull. looks clean and neat if I could get another one. Anyone know where I could get this style ? Looks kinda like the stuff on the new streams.

They have every color, material, and size except the one I want....so it's still old rubber and rope. I think I like the stuff on the new Bullets. I may look there.

IMO...the best looking rubrails are the same ones that you see on lots of elimintors-cougar type boats...god help me but there is a very good picture of the type on HavasuB.

These are the rigid type with recessed screw holes. The second best looking are the rigid with stainless steel inserts...good luck... :D

Here is a pic of the rigid one...Rub Rail (http://www.************.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2352)

No...I believe it was just a black rubber rubrail with no insert.
