They have lots of plans. My brother just dug out his old tiny titan and tore down his Mark 20H. My nephew is going to redo the boat this winter.

my father and I have 2 of them, where are you located. i dont know what their max hp rating is but we run merc 20h's on both. one is a 9ft swift hydroplane(extremely light made out of 2 ply balsa wood with canvas front) runs 40's-50's i think, and the other was a homemade one i believe.

If you have a MK30 that is a 4 cylinder and wayyy too heavy for a 8 or 9' boat.
That would be a "C" class Stock or Mod boat. They would be in the 11' range.
Even though you may think a smaller, lighter boat might be faster, it's not.
It has to do with the weight of the motor Vs the boat and or center of gravity.
I raced that style of boat for nine years and trust me when I say it is all about weight.
Also the "Glen-L" style of boat ( I've built a few of them) is not a race boat.
To take full advantage of the power (and carry the weight) get an X race boat.
You want either of a "C Stock Hydro" or "C Mod Hydro".
You're looking for like a "BeZoats" or a "Butts" or a "B&E".
These boats in that clas configuration were designed and built for that motor in either stock form which was what you have with a racing gear case and stock power head or in "Mod" form which is the same but with pipes and basically identical power/performance.
Even in fishing for but well dialed you should see close to or low 50's.
Do an X race boat, you won't regret it.
Take the class #'s I gave you and go to the APBA or e-bay sites that I gave you.
Good Luck,
Gary

where are you gonna run a little 10ft boat around staten island? im on LI and go out in the great south bay (inside jones inlet) and the only time id be able to run a little boat like that is a weekday thats really really nice out. i think u need a bigger boat, at least 14-15ft.
ive taken my boat out (14ft hydrostream) from the bronx, and its NOT fun unless u go out on a weekday. weekends just arent fun, i was uot of the water more then i was in the water!
