View Full Version : Need A Blade Pattern For A Merc Et

been wantin to try one on my Vector and can't afford the $$ they're fetchin so I figure I'll make one:D
You wheel experts correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they start as Chopper blanks before being trimmed and beat into ET configuration. Correct?
So I bought a virgin 28" Chopper and all I need is a pattern/tracing of the blade on a real one.
I'll cut mine down, thin the blades, re-balance it and see what it does:eek:
Did my own (props in general) for years and years when I was "real poh" and thought this would be a fun experimint.
It's been years but the last one I did started as a stock aluminum Michigan prop (:D ) that ran 60 out of the box and would take no trim w/o breaking loose.
Ran 67 and took full trim after being abused in my garage so don't laugh, it can be done:p
If anyone is willing to help, all I need is an outline of one good/straight blade.
You can either e it to me or mail it which ever is easier.
Thanx guys!
Gary

I know a bunch opf you run these wheels???
I'm not doiung this to try and make any money by selling/modifying these.
Just a poh hill billy that likes to destroy pretty stuff:D
I can make one from a picture if I have to but it would take a while to get the scale right.
I have a Yammi drag copy I can copy/splash (:D ) but I want to try an ET "style" for WFO running and I like the lower rake that it has compared to the Yammi.
I will come up with my own if something does'nt turn up but I'd like to start there.

Yes the stream project is a family boat and YES I still aspire to own an STV for the ultimate driving experience IMO.

Heh, Heh, Heh! Thank You!
Was a video Yammer had from a Spring get together as I recall??
I think it staretd with Jeff shooting video from Blake or someone elses boat. They were pacing the guy in the STV until he about blew over.
Then he was shooting from land and it was a stretch where you couldn't see you/the boat until you were right in front of him.
You had a vest and a bucket on and the boat was on a freagin wire!!
(Jeff was even impressed:eek: )
Only a few seconds of you driving/educating though.
And yeah, I want one!
After our last trip to Fla, I have the bug bad  (And seeing G-Train and Blake's boat run at the Rumble.)
I want a 4 seat River Rocket. I'd have to be able to live in it at this point though:D
I want to see high 120's and it has been proven that you can do it in that boat and still have room for four!!
My Vector is for sale or trade if you know anyone seriuslly interested. Too much time and hardware to sell cheap though. $5K complete less motor or $4k for hull and trailer. Everything is perfect/straight and is a (as you may know) freagin Rocket ship!
If I ever get my ignition worked out it should be good for 110 ish.

GREAT you Got it:)

OK that's the vid from Flatout's Boyz weekend...That was Richard Brown's STV...so the footage you you saw is where I come in the Bay at WOT and have to shut it down real hard in less then a football field...otherwise its a shore lunch:D

YES your Project Vetor turned out real sweet and your signature phot captures the elegant beauty of hanging out a STREAM. The word is out...so hopefully it will sell...it just takes 1 guy.

YES go with the STV...NO disappointments in those rides and SAFE too.

Here is still of that flyby

Naa...I'm still learnining too...in the pic above You can tell I am shutting it down cause the water is breaking off the side of the hull

....One day Greg is going to post the video that Mike M (at 100 plus) took of us river running the STV...know that's some cool fast boat footage. However the camera boat was a 95 mph ride so we danced around him at those speeds...a few burps over 100 once in a while...goofd memories...it'll come round again:)

The Thunder-duck one was my original...I think Baker or Terzien has them. Greg was going to post some exerts from those too at one time...they have fallen into the Black Hole:eek:

ROB...

I thought you where the source of that tape....seems to be the way things go when you loan out tapes...guys say they'll tape em...and then you never see'em again. Maybe Gary can make 2 copies.

One of our club members still has my DE tape of him winning the Daytona 500. Maybe he'll read this and get it back too me;)

Can you say hostage
One case of Canadian beer each and I'll send your tape to a neutral, public place:D
If you involve Customs or try to substitute skunky beer I will have no choice but to destroy the evidence and send it back in itty bitty pieces:p
Sorry, could'nt help it.
e-me where you want it sent to and I'll make you a copy. Give me a while though as my VCRs suck. One plays but doesn't record and the other does the opposite plus being that long it will take a while!
Give me a week or two and I'll hook you up.
Rob, glad it surfaced anyhow.

thinking we are do a trip up North by Spring anyway.
I'd like to hit Shawn's Spring run??
Not sure if we'll still be in Ohio by then or what boat I'd have but you never know.
The Sonic might be out of surgery by then and may have to track down Rob Twible to spank his little red boat before he sells it;)

No Offense to Seans Run...but its a small lake and is mostly a social and take a bud out for quik blast. Takes about a minute in an STV to go end to end. Lots of stairs too, these shots where ot taken from the Blimp:)

If you want boating come to Rice Lake or Muskoka:D

Rice Lake that is. (as you know)
You guys (Canucks) had an excellent representation at this years Rumble too. Too bad you pussed out:D
Think I got the chance to meet all of them and was geeked to se all the boats that came down.
One of the things that sucks about running an event like that is that it keeps you so busy that you don't have **** for time to visit with everyone you want to.
Had a great time talking to I think it was Al Ray (the father), and he and Sean made sure we knew we were welcome up North and I assured tham that we would be back up.
Last year when we pulled the Sonic up and stayed with Jeff, the tow up sucked!!
The trailer was all over the place, was swaying the ass end of the van bad!! Could'nt hold the speed over about 50!!
Was expecting a 6 to 7 hour trip as Jeff had made many times. not the actual 11 that it freagin took us!!
Your straight ass, flat, boring freeway from Windsor across Ontario at 50 MPH sucks bad when being passed by semis doing warp speed and about blowing us off the damn road!!
Rice Lake was perfect water for the Sonic had it not been for the ****ty tow up!!
Had more than my share of Canadian beer that weekend too!!
We'll see how this Winter go's and where we end up.

Hey Gary I think you are over your head with the ET prop idea. The very first ETs were reworked choppers but thats old history . I was talking to Ronnie Gilbert ( The Prop Shop) about ETs and he will not do them , he told me to buy the real thing ! Soddy Daisy wil charge about $225. and I think that is a DEAL. Good Luck jimmy

Probably:D
But I like to piddle:p
I figure worst case scenario, I'll end up with a really cool $150. paper weight!
I like the bklade design of the Choppers but way too much blade area for my Vector as is soooo---
I already have a 26 Yammi copy that I been eyeing over (to copy to a 28)but keep hearing everyone rave about the ET's so I figure what the hey?
Did I mention I like to piddle in the garage:rolleyes:
