I did spread the word to the guys at the Lake Murray Powerboat Club. Mostly big big V's, so I don't know if they will show. It's a lot trailer that distance.

As far as the helicopter shoot everything is real simple this time, just be in the water ready to go at the event start time of 1pm Saturday afternoon. The photos will be for sale ASAP following the run. I will try to hold a drivers meeting of some sort Fri night and there will also be flyers at the hotel. I will not be there at Edstone Sat morning so there will be a representative there for me to also hand out flyers. Just one thing to remember, DO NOT LOOK AT THE HELICOPTER :D It looks really dumb in the pics, trust me:rolleyes: :D Besides, with all the boats on the river at once you definetely need to pay attention to where your going;)

that have not been to one of these before.. How about giving a few short words on the basics of the drivers meeting here or in another thread. Such as;
are there speed zones in this part of the river.
Where can we "open them up"
is there any order to the start and finish
do we need to pick up any special stickers for the boats and where
what finances are required

I know that there is always situational details to cover at the time of the event but there is always the basics. I have seen where and when but nothing answering these questions. I wouldn't want anyone to not show up because they didn't get enough details prior to travel.

it's been like trying to herd a room full of cats, :rolleyes: the park is about 10 miles or so south of astor bridge. there is a public boatramp on the west side of the river next to a small marina. on the other side 1/2 mile or so is the motel we are staying at. coming west on 100 out of ormond off 95 you will see a sign and a road on your right for Blairs Jungle Den, if you pass it you are at the river and can turn around on the other side, the road to the den is about a mile or so winding left and right. there is a ramp at the motel, but parking is tight. Ed Stone park is in Deland, i belive on hwy 44. we are staying the night at the den and will run south to the park by water and return with the group, (and burn off a little extra fuel weight! :D ) so about 11:30 or so we will head south. if you are not staying and want to cut some hwy miles and start at Ed Stone the parking sitch will be much less a hastle, there is fuel at the marina next to the astor bridge, and last time there they had 93 octain. hope this helps, as i am in no way part of the "brains" of this "day on the water", but plan on bringing a toy foy the Marine Corps to give to a needy child. :cool: fun out.

about 80% of the planned route was a 35 mph zone, at the end the river opens up and is wide enough for WFO operation, who knows, i plan on just cruising and may have to "clear out some weeds from my prop" occaisionally. ;) n out.

At about 12:15 no later , we all can meet at the ramp at the 44 bridge [Edstone park] all I will have to say is we want every one to be safe and have a good time . and also a reading of the Florida state Statuet 327.33 about. Reckless or careless operation of vessel. Also we will have 50/50 raffle tickets 3 for $5 or $2each the person who holds the winning ticket. walks off with half the cash. past winners have been Larry Mc Gloflin ,Tony Brucato, and John Stephens.
Some big offshore guys have made there way to this event and are all big talk about how they are the real stuff. There might be some of our finest United States Marines that may like a ride up the River with us to the party . so if anyone is willing to take a gutsy Marine guy or girl on the tour just let it be known. If you have those walky talky[ walkie talkie] radios that they sell for families who go to theme parks and camping to comunicate. It would be a good Idea to bring them, so we all can comunicate with each other , befor during and after the tour and at future events also. They can be bought for as low as $20 a set. Dose any one know any more about these family radios? Would chanel 3 be a good channel ? I am putting mine in the charger right now.

Mr. Fun, Porkeys is a great place and can get very wild.
It is just a quick run across lake George. It is a only a mile or two north of lake George. I'll run with you wide open there and back.
Like wildman said it can be rough on the lake for us smaller boats but is always a blast.
