All of the motors I have seen from that time period including three original tubes that I have are 18.750" in length. Regular 1/2" rigid copper tube from a hardware store is the same stuff.

Isn't .813 kinda like 3/4 inch?
No wonder I have so much trouble figuring out my water pump!

loke the 280's and newer. 18 1/8" is corrrect for that tube. The 1/2" is longer because the water pump doesn't use the adaptor. I changed mine over to a 3/4" when I put a new 280 1-piece adaptor on my 260.

Naaaaaaaaw, you guys need to buy that stuff from Merc. The tube itself is about 30 bucks and the plastic guide tube is over 30 bucks more, or about $60. total. Not a bad markup for about 2 dollars worth of stuff at a retail hardware store.

I did a post about it last year. I made my own adapter and modified the standard pump housing. Made my own guide tube too. Mine doesn't fall off while you install the lower like the Merc one does either.   The standard housing is like 18 bucks and the 3/4" housing is 80 something if I remember right. Oh yea, the housing themselves have the same part # cast into them !!!!!!!!!
