on another post about timing you said to put the motor at .150 before tdc and check that your pointer is on the mark. are you talking about the zero on the fly wheel. checked mine yesterday and tdc is exactly on the zero. do i then time it at 25 degrees. one more thing, i put a light on it the other day and it was timed at 15 degrees at wot. how bad was this hurting the top end rpm's. have only been able to turn 6500 mainly due to fuel starvation.just wondering what the real world difference is between 15 and 25 degrees.motor is 96 2.5 200 fish cut similar to 260 150lbs comp wh carbs 2:1 gearcase. thanks in advance.............p.s. if this is the best it will do i can't show my face at the by-u-boyz finale.

You can still beat T-Rex!!!
Sorry, just couldn't resist! :p
Hope to see ya there! Getting ready myself, I'll be doin' some testing out on the Red the next couple of weeks.
If you are running an oil pump 6500 RPM is the best you can do without the pump gear coming apart. The difference between 15 and 25 degrees is probably about 50HP. Set it at 25 degrees. You can find top dead center and set the pointer at 0 on the flywheel, you must use a dial indicator or it WILL be wrong. I like to find .150 BTDC and make a mark on the flywheel to time it most accurately. .150 BTDC is 25 degrees. Make sure your timing stop screw is hitting the block at WOT. Many times I have seen the trigger wire get stiff and stop the timing from advancing all the way.
Hey Mr. us1 is that a Sliverwing boat your driving around? If it's the one I'm thinking of I saw it about 4 years ago at some marine dealership on Bataiva st. in the city of Orange. I forgot about it, then about a year ago I saw the same boat sitting behind Greg Fosters shop. Well, what do you say.............Uncle Tony:confused:
