Can anyone give me some feedback on the performance of a Ventura II Vs a Vector.

Thanx

Good question - Everything depends on power, set up, year of the Vector (pad cofig...) but I always heard the Ventura was more stable(?) Have you seen this? http://www.hydrostream.org/ Good intel here... ;)

I had a comp ventura II. At the same time action20 had a vector.
The ventura hands down was a better boat to drive, but the vector looked cooler;)
Ask the guys running the actions (18) Its nearly the same boat except for the longer nose.
If I had the choice between a brand new action18 and a vector. I'd take the action. This is just my opinion. They are both great boats and a blast to drive.

When I first bought my Ventura, I had called Hydrostream about just this subject. Neil had told me back then, and I have since backed this up with personal experience, with everything equal, the Vector is faster in a straight line, but the Ventura will out handle it every time. But really, that's what the Ventura was built for, racing on a circular course where good handling is important.

what transomstand said.

If you find a deal on either you'll be happy with it IMO.

Thanks for the feedback…

Transomstand – That is a nice looking Ventura you have.
Can you share some information on your setup, and how it performs?

The setup is very simple. The transom has a 3" fixed jack plate for a total engine height of 25", that puts the prop shaft about 2" below the pad. I don't need a low water pickup at this height. I run the old style Land and Sea bullet nose cone, turning a 30" big ear chopper through 2:1 gears. Dual Ride Guide with opposing cables. Solid mounts. Engine was bolted right on the transom with no setback. This was with a very early 175 Merc (1977). The horsepower rating has since changed on these engines, so you would want to compare this with the current 150 HP models. This setup would give me 80 mph with no problem in a very drivable package. There's lots more speed to be had, but I could beat most everything on our lake, so I never saw much need to change. I went to the Ct River Run for the first time this year, the only thing I could beat there was a 20 foot Bayliner, so maybe it's time for some changes. Let me know if I can answer any thing else for you.
