I've got a dealer liscense also, but the quality dealer auctions around the SE (Manheims) have pretty well slammed the door on taking retail customers in to pick out cars. Entry requires scanning a card and printing a name tag, and while it is possible to print a tag for an accompanied delivery driver, they seem to watch them pretty closely. I took a friend in a couple of years ago who was looking for a BMW and they questioned why a "driver" was wearing a Rolex and another guy asked why he was helping examine cars in the lot. The tighter controls really do help the overall market by restricting access somewhat.

81 Stream, they have different names in different cities. For instance in Atlanta, it's Atlanta Auto Auction. Unless I'm mistaken, Manheim bought it as an existing auction and only made minor changes in the name.

They are everywhere.

I wanted to hit an auction or two when I moved to Florida, but then I discovered they were pretty much all Manheim. Up in Ohio, they have some really good auto auction that are open to the public. The dealer only auctions aren't hard to get into either.

That's what I'm saying, a regular guy can get in with a friend in the business and buy anything.

If you don't have a dealer friend, they open the following day to the public.

Dealer day Tuesday.
Public day, Wednesday.

That's not a Manheim auction either.

public sales are fun because most of the time they bid like fools:D

The day or two before the auction. They really don't care then. Check out the car with the potential buter, and then go back in on auction day and buy it. Seems to work for me.

On my dealers license, I also have helped family and friends with the purchase of used cars, but to avoid issues with security etc... I knew what people were looking for and then worked the phones. I began to jokingly call my business "Charity Motors" after selling too many cars at no profit!
Noble offer eautosales, just don't let too many of your potential profit makers go too cheap like I do, My lot and liability Insurance is a killer to keep paid up!
