I was wondering if anybody would know some one or some company that I could get ahold of about putting a turbo on a outboard mercury motor. I figure that if they can put them on jet ski's then why not on a boat? Imagine the pull in the mid range!

Land and Sea offered a turbo charger for an outboard back in the late 70's early 80's without much success. We tested some superchargers but ran into a problem with the boost over powering the reed valves. I believe you'll find the turbo charged jet skis are all either 4 strokes or have rotary valves instead of reeds. The idea of forced induction is appealing but the reed valve set up won't allow much boost. For the buck, NITROUS is the trick and if maintained properly it makes more horsepower per dollar than anything.

noah- also when running boost, arent you loosing a certain amount right out the exhaust port? like in a 4 stroke you have the exhaust valve closed off, but not so in a 2 stroke.

That right. They worked not too bad on snowmobiles that had expansion chanbers because the back (blocking) pulse would partially offset the open exhaust port.

I know of a guy that ran a land and sea turbo but he spent countless hours on the Dyno programing his fuel injection and he also ran it on alchol.Because of the added heat.It made around 500 hp .his name is Dan feltenburg

I think a turbo would work and work well if the time was spent to map out fuel injection. If using direct injection, you wouldn't have to worry about the lost air fuel charge blowing out the exhaust port. It would just be air. when the port closes the fuel charge can be injected into what should be a very dense air charge.
Fuel injection technology has moved forward in leaps and bounds since land and sea ran their turbo systems.
