I'm fixing up my trailer for my 16 cat. Well the carpet covered bunks were trash.. One was even broke. Well i'm replacing them and want to know what is the best material to cover the bunks with. I have had trailers before that have carpet on them and I have had other trailers that are covered with starboard. The one with starboard was one of the easiest loading trailers that I have ever had but the boat was one that I didn't care that much about and I have never checked the bottom to see for scraches or other damage. THe bunks that I have just taken off were coverd with outdoor carpeting but there are scraches and places where the paint is worn off from this.. I will be painting the boat soon and I want to keep the paint in good shape and I want easy loading and unloading at the very POOR boat ramp just down the road from me..

Lee, call R&R Textiles, they have 40 oz carpet for bunks, it's alot thicker than the indoor outdoor crap that most places sell, it will last alot longer also, I'm coming down to Wildmans as soon as I get my new lower so I'll bring the trampoline down with me, How's that for service? you will need to work something out from there, Kevin

For small jobs, you can get the carpet from Overton's in long, narrow rolls, but it's not cheap though.

I used the same carpet as my decks. It's much heavier and softer than "trailer bunk carpet". Then soak it down good with silicone spray. Boat slides on (and off, be careful) like it's greased. Respray when it starts to wear off, every 5 or 6 launches. I have looked very closely and have not been able to detect any "sheen" in the water. Just let silicone dry for 1/2 hour before backing the trailer in.

Hey the silicone spray is a good idea, I'll try that!

I'll find out about the perp in the accident tomorrow or tuesday. The cop had already punched in his plate # in the computer and knew where he lived (Ypsilanti), said they would send someone over to have a talk with him. He probably was un-insured, or drunk, or carrying narcotics or something...

I cleaned out my car at the body shop yard, so if they total it, it'll look real nice for the insurance adjuster's appraisal. I had already cleaned under the hood and waxed the car a week before, but I needed to clean out the interior and vaccuum it so it looks like I babied it...
