Hey Wile Coyote.....

What can you tell me about Clermont chain? I live in Clermont, but work in Port Richey and have only been on the chain twice, and never covered all of the lakes. Some of the west Coast guys are thinking about coming over so any info you or any others on S&F have would be appreciated. I know there are at least 4 good size lakes....... other than no wake zones in canals, I haven't seen any others posted for the lakes......and 3 places to get food/drinks...... other than that, any info you could pass on will be appreciated.

My guess is that 8-10 boats would come over if not more.

I have been on lake louisa(sp) up there and its nice...I think its the farthest south lake on the chain... Might make for a good day trip..:)

What do you want to know ? I live on the Clermont Chain. Theres a Tiki Bar on Lake Minneola with good food and Gas only 87 theres Lake Susan Lodge. Theres a small group of locals that come out on most sundays Look for them at a small beach on the north east shore of Lake Minnehaha we get together there and run over to the State Park on Lake Louisa. its a nice place sand bottom, rest rooms. next time your out on the chain call me 352 636 9366

I live about 45 min from Clermont. I have ridden the chain only once but it was a blast. There is a nice mix of lakes and canals. I was riding with some of the locals and it was a good ride (if you can keep them out of the bars :D :D :eek: ) If you post the date you are planning on coming over I can probably make it with at least one other boat from the Sanford area. We can also probably scrounge up the locals

Rob, look on the map from I-4 go north on hwy 27 maybe 15-20 miles, I have always wanted to go and run that chain nice big lakes and I think the water is up now, from what I have heard. I have to check dates but would like to go, Matt:D

The ramp I use is on Lake Minneola....... so if you are coming up 27, get off on SR50 exit and turn left going west for approx 2 miles to County road 561 (12th st), turn right.....go 3 blocks to Minneola Ave, turn rt.....go approx 3 tenths of a mile to turn in for ramp ( small ramp sign )....the lake will be on the left.....

The other way is coming from I75.....go east on SR50(exit 301)......approx 38 miles to the east side of Clermont. CR561 is the first light you will get to in Clermont, turn left....go 3 blocks, turn right on Minneola Ave and go to turn in for ramp.

Two years ago when I moved here the water was so low that the ramps were closed.....the interconnecting canals were dry.....but now the water is so high that it is close to flooding. I'm thinking it will become a cool place like the Suwannee and an alternate as it is central to the east coast guys......west coast and not much farther than the Suwannee for the northern guys:cool:

The only posted law I have seen for the area is "these are no excuse waters!":eek: :eek: :D

Like Jones said....there's a tiki bar on Lake Minneola.....The Lake Susan lodge is another stop along the way....someone told me they have a live band there sometimes..... but I don't know if thats true..... and then there is the Clermont city dock which is right next to another bar and restaurant ( geez my memory is like your recall speedo.....STUCK! )

The canals are not very long......plenty deep..... so its probably gonna be purrfect for stretch runs and cool downs.... gas wise you will most likely be okay with 18 gals ( xceptin those gas guzzlin OMC's:D )

I had an engine catch fire one day on me.Three bolts backed out from the center carb bowl and only one was left just hanging there.I never found the other bolts and the engine didnt blow.But something sparked inside the cowl and it ignited the damn thing.I was on the phone with mechanic asking him why my **** wouldnt start and the next time I turned the key it caught fire.When I got back to the ramp I pulled the cowl and that's what I saw when I turned the key to the fuel pump.Fuel squrting every where.I told him " holy **** my enegine 's on fire ,i gitta go".He called me back freaking out not knowing If i was ok or if he should call 911:D .

Take I4 to the turnpike.....go north to the 50 exit and turn left on 50. As of now..... I think 10AM is probably as good a time as any. Darkness comes early.... so this is the best I can come up with..... I am going to try to make a chain of lakes map with routes and locations for those who may arrive later. Work schedule this week is somewhat hectic, hope to have it for everyone in the next day or so. I haven't seen much of the waterpolice on the chain..... but it goes without saying that courteous safe boating is what we will be doing. I think most of the running will happen down at Lake Louisa which for the most part is surrounded by a park. I have found most performance enthusiasts to be more cautious than the average boater..... and typically the boats are set up better than average as well. Needless to say, one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch for everyone..... so all smack talkin aside ( who me?....smack talk?.....when?:D :D ) this should be a great weekend. I am just glad for once I don't have to drive over 2 miles to get together with what I consider to be a great group of people..... ( I drive 80 miles each way to the store every day ), and Lake Tarpon is 90 plus miles for me as well.

It will and should be what it is intended for...... FUN!

I have a couple of ideas...... probably would want some kind of course with markers...... I'm bringin a handheld GPS to send out and Baja Joe is bringin his Stalker radar gun. He can get a reading from a half a mile away...... off angle gives off readings, so hopefully will have a straightaway run with some kind of marker to denote where you need to be at WOT....with plenty of room for slowdown. It will be cool to see someone turn a 120+..... and we will take GPS or radar whichever is faster.....

I will probably get waxed..... and as long as I'm havin fun thats all that matters..... as I still have a ways to go in the setup..... I just want to see if I can do better than I have up to now.....and I am lookin for a good number from RSTY...... it's a challenge we are up to.....

thanks but the merc splines won't work. unless you have some shorts like your talking about. but the splines themselves are the same. my merc prop i had to have re hubed to fit my johnson. and merc prop will slip half way on my shaft and stop.....
