Anybody have any idea on the fuel pressures on a Stinger GP? the fuel pressure regulator has settings from 1 to 5. I cank't seem to find this info in any of the manuals. It just tells you where to set the reg during break-in and that the lower the number the leaner the engine.

Thanks Tim

This motor is a V-4 crossflow, with a 8 barrel, diaphragm carb. Has no fuel bowls. This motor is richened or leaned by fuel pump pressure. But thanks for the input.

I thought a Stinger was a 3 cyl with regular carbs.

Markus, Stinger is a name spread across several differnt OMC's. They started as the 4 venturi 4 cyl OMC race motors in the early 70's that were the competitors for the early Merc Twisters. The second generation, the Stinger GP like the one shown here had the 8 barrels and other upgrades and was considerably faster than the first. Both of these 4 cyl Stingers had twin sisters in Evinrude called Strangler and Super Strangler respectively. The earliest V6 OMC race motor was also painted orange and called Stinger, but I've never seen one, although Mark 75H posted pictures of one here a while back. OMC also used the Stinger name on the 3 cyl engines that were more of a production engine, and available from any dealer. I don't believe they ever branded a 3 cyl Evinrude as a Strangler. As the V6 OMC race motors became more common, the Stinger name was dropped on them and they were branded RS on the Johnsons and CCC on the 'Rudes.

The 8 barrel Stinger GP or Super Strangler is at the top of my want list along with a CCC or RS, but in 10 years or so of looking I've never found a complete example of any of the 4.
