You guys got a great forum here! I bought my 78 Hornet jetboat about 3 years ago, it had a mild built 396 with a panther jet. I'm from salt lake city utah were boat racing is almost unheard of. And my boat ran with pretty much all the other jetboats(GPS 62MPH) but about a year ago i moved down just south of fortworth TX. were jetboats are anything but slow! I've just takin' the panther out and getting ready to put a race preped american turbine out of a pro-drag boat in. also replacing 396 chev. with a 557 ford(very very built) hoping to be around 800-900 horse power. I still need to get the water intake and was wondering if the berkley intake would work? also heard that i would need an adjustable shoe to go much faster then 70mph. also wondering about a ratchet setup, have heard it is a must on a really fast setup and is 1300.00 bucks sound about right? would really appreciate any info, thanks.

You should check into SDBA. Southern Drag Boat Association. They race more locally than way off.

You can go on line and go to SDBA and get all the information you will need. Also can join if you wish. Also get schedule for their races. This is a good sight to get info. and a good bunch of people on here that will help if they can. Good luck Racing.

Just wondering what kind of boat do you have, are you into racing? Also i went to a big annual boat(mostly jet)get together at lake whittney on the first weekend of Oct. Lots of cool boat and a few sponsered race boats hotroding around.

Yes, I have an Allison. We ran V-6 Comp with it a long time ago in DSRA (Deep South Racing Association) Then they went to ODBA and we quit their association and ran SDBA for a while and now they have started back up DSRA again so we will run some of their races. We run Pro Fuel now. We will try Pro Gas this next year. It's a high 9 and low 10 second boat.

Sounds like you've been racing for awhile. Whats the differince from the class you raced to the new class you want to race?

I have to add about 200 lbs to race Pro Gas. We have to weigh a lot more. I don't like having to add so much weight.

Thats one thing that no racer likes to do, but rules are rules. Do you have any idea what class i would run? Boat is a 19 ft. shollow v hull jet drive(full front and back seats) motor will be a BBF 557 tunnelram 2 dominators on regular gas(maybe mixed with race fuel just to keep from pinging)planning on running 10.5/11:1.?

That would be up to you and SDBA. Check with them because you can't run DSRA. DSRA is for outboards only and so is ODBA.
Good Luck
