Well, it's almost 2005, and we now have the new 2005 Team Member logos available.
As most of you already know, Team Membership is a way for members to invest in our forums. It's a way to help support these forums, as all of its resources are free to help the powerboating community.
As always, Team Membership is strictly voluntary, and it is not required to access any features of this forum.

But for all you guys who have bought and sold things on this site and have made or saved money, I believe this is the least you can do, not to mention all the free knowledge.
I sold a motor and a boat into Wisconsin and bought one from Minneapolis that I would have never been able to do without this web site not to mention a variety of parts that have been bought and sold which I could never sell locally as our market is way to small. Personally it drives me nuts seeing many people make money from this site with no donation.
Again, my opinion and I am not looking for conflict or a response from anyone.
I have also met a ton of great people that share the same passion for boating and attending some great events all from this website. ****, I have even met people from my own friggin city!
Great site Greg. Donation coming.

"Personally it drives me nuts seeing many people make money from this site with no donation. "
Pro Comp, I feel exactly the same way. It drives me nuts to see some people absolutely plaster the For Sale Forums with free ads, but they don't chip in 2/3 price of one Trader online ad once a year to help with the cost of maintaining the site.
I wish we could get a lot higher percentage of the active members kickin' in this year, but every single person who helps lessens the burden of one guy doin' it alone.

Danny,
Thank you for your support! Most of all, thank you for the tremendous contribution to our forums. You've teamed up with others in the History forum to make it one of the best additions we have every added to Scream And Fly. That forum is incredible, and I remember looking through the photos you posted many times, trying to see as many details as I could.
Thanks again Danny, and keep in mind that we'll have a History section to the new Scream And Fly Racing website!
Happy New Year!

To the answer the question that was asked about what the normal amount is:
Give the amount that represents the value of the help and info that Scream and Fly has given to you.
Whether it be selling your junk (like I do), or getting you better prices via the contacts (like I do) and junk for sale on the board, or technical info (like I do), or meeting all the wonderfull people from all over to boat with (like I do), or to try and give something back to our commmunity (like I do), you'll know when it's right.
On a personal note, if it were'nt for S/F the 3 Rumble on the River's never would have happen'd, would'nt have been to the ODBA races in Jasper, I would'nt have been boating with new friends in Florida, Kentucky, and Canada among other places, and wouldn't have become friends with Ken Warby (the World Water Speed Record Holder).
I would'nt have a 100 MPH Hydrostream Vee Bottom or an 8500 RPM, 300 HP JohnRude if it hadn't been for Greg's little gift to all of us!
Thank You Greg and sign me up for another year!
(check your pay pal acct.)
Thanks again for another year Greg. It's been a great train ride hasn't it?? I was hoping to get you a Skater tour article but things never worked out. Maybe later!
Just want to say again I'm glad to have met you the year I went to NY to pick up the Valero sister ship to your V-king. And thanks again for putting the deal together. Yes, I miss it too, but you know how I buy and sell boats!!!!!!
As for the future, there's a forum we haven't added yet. The reason I'm thinking about it is my new tow pig boat is in dire need of a STEREO. How about a stereo forum??
P.S., it's pretty cool to post here JUST below a friend of a friend Gary! YOU are a BIG part of Scream and Fly. Wish we could have met last time I was in Bucyrus!!!!! Wait till you see what Shannon is building now...........:D

What up dog??
Did you see Family and Perf. Mag. is doing a serices of articles on the new 16' Checkmate??
Rigging a new 115 Opti. in current issue.
So what's Shannon up to??
I'd like to see him do a light lay up boat to play with a few people :D
I haven't talked to Warren in a while, but I'll bet it's been in the water. Can't wait to see performance numbers on that rig with the new Opti. Wish I could help them prop test!
Shannon is building up a top end Pulsare 2100 with a 300X, 10" HD RapidJack, the works. Partial bottom blue print even. Hull is going to be stock production except for the partial blue print, but I'd like to see him do a light layup race version myself! :D

Just sent my 04 donation in.
This board rocks. i couldn't agree with everyone about donations i personally have sold parts on the board for no charge that other wise would have either cost me to advertise or not sold at all. This gets excellent exposure to the exact market that we are all targeting. I just sold my 225 Vindicator this weekend using this board, i had it adverstised in 3 other sources and the S&F listing is the one that made the deal happen. This board rock s show Greg some love and pay up !
Thanks,

Hey Greg,
I am going to fire you off a cheque, as I love this site, and even though I have not yet bought or sold anything on it, the information I have gleaned is invaluable.
However, is there another post anywhere that tells a bit more about Scream and Fly? As in, do you have a full time job or is this your full time job? I realise that avertisers must help support the site, but do they cover off the full costs? As I said, I am going to send you a cheque regardless, but would love to know a little more about the "business" of this site.
Perhaps you are just independently wealthy, and do this for kicks?:D
Raceman

I'm gonna answer those questions to the best of my knowledge and you'd better read it quick because it won't be here long.
First, I met Greg on this site several years ago and we became friends long before I met him in person. He's younger than my son but in my opinion has more understanding of the way things really are in this world and more judgement than anybody else I can think of his age. He's also humble, even tempered (not subject to mood swings) and one of the most unselfish people I've ever met. This site was built then and maintained now for the love of the hobby, and the pride of building something that truly has NO EQUAL. Here's a guy who drives from New York to Tenn to shoot pictures at Jasper for a feature here. After he moves to Fla he drives back to New York for a performance test feature evaluating parts. Those are just a couple of examples of many more situations, but where else/who else but S & F offers that kind of exposure?
In the context of another conversation once, in conjunction with me being a little nosey, Greg let what the hosting bill for this site costs him slip. At that time there were no Team Memberships and no Team Sponsors or Supporting Vendors. I was astonished that somebody would make that kind of personal investment for the love of a hobby. I'd been a member of a car website with optional paying memberships for some time and suggested that we do the same thing here. The car site has some special forums and other priviledges for paying members that the others are not allowed to participate in. At first Greg was opposed to it in any form. He later decided to try it, but with the SPECIFIC stipulation that there would never be any different treatment for those who don't join. It's been that way for several years now and I'd guess it always will be.
Greg has always been adamant that this website is not about money. I hope it gets to the point one day that the burden won't overwhelm the reward, even if the reward is primarily pride and satisfaction of buildin' the best boat website in the universe. I'm not aware of any other hobby type website with any theme that is equal. The car website that I spoke of does not allow the posting of pictures even, although it has MANY MORE paying members than we do here.
The prime cost here is hosting the pictures. When one goes on it takes up space until such time as it is deleated. Even if it falls down into year old posts it's still consuming the space.
I sincerly hope that people who enjoy this website as much as I do will consider joining as Team Members. It's the right thing to do. It just ain't fair for one guy to do it alone, even if he does love it.
Steven

11-16-2004, 03:07 PM
Thanks Raceman, I don't see why your post won't stay up, I can't see why Greg would want to delete it.
Forgetting the money for a minute, does Greg also work, or is this his full time gig? not trying to be too nosey, just curious about how much of his time this takes up...I would guess a lot, and if he has to work as well...WOW!
Best to let Greg answer that question, and Greg, if you don't feel that information is any of my business, I totally understand.
As I said, my cheque is on the way...I will probably send you a US money order, as cashing a CDN cheque may cause you grief...although there is that Paypal option...how does that work?

Steven, drop the www. and it will work.
Fellow Canadians, Paypal is the easiest. It takes about a week to get approved and the money comes straight out of your chequing account. If you do not want to wait, get a $US money order at the post office for your donation amount. Do it soon - US money is cheap right now!!

I "realise" that this "practise" may not meet with your "favour", and perhaps I may need some "armour" to deflect your criticisms,
Now I may be a bit right of "centre", perhaps more than a "metre", but before your attempt to turn me into "vapour", I will return you to your regulary scheduled "programme" I labour at this too often already.

Actually, I was planning on PayPaling $25 to Greg tonight. WTF is wrong suddenly with PayPal? I knew since I have a new e-mail address I would have to re-register. I knew I would have to submit a credit card number. No problem. Now they say I can't use it until they send me an "Expanded Use" number on my next credit card bil. AND THE SOBs are gonna charge me $1.95 to give me that number. That bill won't arrive until the middle of next month.
PayPal can KMA. What's Greg's snail mail addy. I'll send him a check. (Cheque?)

Dirtbag, since you asked, I used Paypal. Some guys don't like it, but I've usd it for all sorts of transaction here. I have mine linked to my credit card. That way i have double protection if some thing did go wrong.
Gainso, you can get that number online if you are set up to monitor your credit card online. I got mine in 5 minutes when I had to register a new credit card after losing the old one.

Chris, the reason I quit using PayPal was their "access to bank account's" policy. I got this little love letter from them that said since my Pay Pal transactions had now exceeded 2 thousand (lifetime) I would have to give them checking account info and access so they could debit my account if there was a problem. I told them No Way Jose and we parted company. I never had any negative experience until then, and never reversed a charge, or even contacted them for that matter. Now I have to go back to the dreaded mail a money order routine, but with all the theft and fraud these days I think anybody's nuts to let PayPal in thier banking business. Also................ if there was a peasant uprising over that chickensh*T policy maybe they'd rescend it, but too many people just say okay and go along.

To me, this site has become somewhat of an addiction. So many people with the same interests. The ability to find affordable parts and all the knowledge in the world. All that for $25? And now my point. I personally get a hell of a lot more info and entertainment from this place and that is why I donate what I do. Don't think for a second that all you can donate is $25. You can donate as much as you want to. If everyone puts in as much as they get out of it , we will have that record year.

Just wanted to say thanks for all you have done. This gives me something to do in the winter, LOL. I have bought, sold and traded items and met so many people that would have never been possible without this site.

I also sent a donation.

Once again I'm making the donation to S&F. I still believe that this should be an annual fee not a donation. Too many people take advantage of this as a free site. I'm donating either way.

It is kind of church. Twenty percent of the people pay while the other eighty percent of them complain. Go figure!!

Hi Jerry -
Thanks for becoming a Team Member and supporting Scream And Fly!!
We do have XXL (and M, L and XL) t-shirts in stock. The shirts have the Scream And Fly logo on the front, and a graphic and logo on the back. Zubrick T-Shirts created fantastic custom artwork for us, and so far everyone's loved the shirts. The shirts are $23 each, including shipping and handling in the US and Canada.
