I'm looking at a boat with a 90 h.p. mercury sport-jet engine. One cylinder is bad. I am interested in upgrading to a higher h.p. powerhead. Does anyone know if these units use different pumps and impellers? Is a swap to a 175 h.p. powerhead feasible? The boat is a 16' Sugar Sands. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thx in advance Punkinhead:cool:

Do not go to the dark side. Get a real jet boat with a big V-8.

nice bridge washing! I hope no one was on the bridge when you hosed it. I can't find a gas guzzler big block for what I can get the sport-jet for. I thought if I could put a hot v-6 in the motor well, I would have a great sleeper-Punkinhead

punkinhead, I had lots of fast clamp ons. After 3 or 4 rebuilds I gave it up.
At $150 each for a new piston 2-stroke's just cost a lot to rebuild. My big block ford can eat a lot of gas and still be money ahead. Have you looked at the boattraderonline.com???
Call a mercury dealer and ask if the powerhead is the same if you must keep the 2-stroke.

Hate to say it the bridge was open to cars and one or 2 got real close to getting washed.
