it's a Gateway, on the front it says essential and it also says intel inside pentium!!!

it has a cable line (roadrunner) and it's pretty fast.

But since you bring it up, I've noticed that for the last couple weeks on scream and fly, mine wont keep up while I'm typing and when I'm scrolling up and down. Thought it was something with my computor. I went on some other websites to see if it was happening, and it worked fine. and when typing e-mails it will keep up.

Put mine together myself. Motherboard is an ECS K7S5a (dirt cheap for about 60$ CDN) has onboard sound and onboard 10/100 LAN. AMD XP2000+ processor. Forgot the model number but the video card I picked up used is an MSI GForce4 64Meg. 256 Meg Kingston DDR memory. 15 gig Maxtor hardrive. LG burner. NEC 15 inch monitor. DSL modem. Run's great. Work PC is a similar mish mash of parts.

My very first computer back in the early 80's was a Timex Sinclair. It had 2K ram!I had the 16k ram pack in the back. If you just moved it a hair with that thing pluged in the back it would crash and dump your program. It had jacks on the side that plugged into a standard tape recorder. Programs were stored on audio tape cassette. I had a flight simulator program that took about 15 minutes to load a little under 16k! After that I graduated to a Comadore 64. 64k! I even had a modem for it. Think it was 300 or 600 baud. There was no web but we had bulletin boards. The 5 1/4 drive for it was twice the size and weight of the compter and almost as slow as the tape cassette and made a heck of a racket. I think I still got those old machines packed away somewhere.

Generic all the way! I have a lan party each week. Command and Conquer Generals team play, 2 on 2 and good ole Carmageddon.

ECS K7S5A Pro x 4
Amd XP 2400 & XP 2000 x 3
Geforce 3 TI 500 x 2 & Geforce 4 TI4200 x 2
Generic 512mb SDRAM x 4
Win98 (supports old Dos based games)

Really happy with the performance, stability and price!

Also got an old Intel P-166 that I played Quake online with. It has my SCSI CD-Burner on it when I need it. Anyone need an old 3dfx card?

At the prices that Dell sells computers, I would buy one of them just to get Windows XP and the program suite. The average buyer simply can't compete with the volume they do.
