Has anyone raised the rev limiter on the New 2003's??I have one,a 15" OFFSHORE and it stops at 8500,not enough to run the low pitch drag props.I have heard that these are regulated differently from the arlier models?HELP!Need to go faster!!

You can remove the rev-limiter, but the motor won't really turn much higher. The 280s have a completely different ignition system than the all out race motors that are turning 9500 rpm and up. In our experience, 8500-8700 is all that motor will turn. However, it can be done. A High Perf dealer can send your box out to RAPAIR and they can remove the limiter in the box. It will void your warranty however.

If your willing to throw the warranty away for more power, another alternative is to run 260 electronics on the 280. There are a few engine builders on this board who can help you with this change. Done right, especially with regards to fuel mapping, the rewards can be significant. E-mail me if you want more info.
