Hi!

We are working on a project for 2002 involving a Skater 24 and twin 2.5 Mercs (Promax). My friend Frode is a professional F1, F2 and Offshore (Skater 28 w/twin 2.5's) driver, but we would be very happy to receive some reccommendations about:

@ mounting of engines (how far from the transoms centreline)
@ propshaft height
@ setback
@ manual brackets vs hydraulic brackets
@ props - Merc cleavers or other brands (Mazco, Spinelli, etc)
@ props turning in or out. On a Skater 28 Frode had best overall results spinning outward
@ gear ratio's
@ steering systems (Latham, Marine Machine, etc)

Cheers and thanks,

Toffen - Norway

Hi!

To all Skater fans! ::

Dear Toffen,

Hello, sorry for the delay in answering your questions regarding your 24' Skater. Your email was forwarded directly to our factory. To answer your questions, the following is recommended:

1) mounting of engines- C to C 48"
2) propshaft height relative to the bottom, height 1 1/4" above
3) setback- no setback
4) manual brackets vs hydraulic brackets- no jackplates
5) props- 14.5 x 30 3 blade cleaver with -1.87/1
14.5 x 34 3 blade cleaver with 2.0/1
6) prop pitches- see #5
7) props turning in or out - either, your preference
8) gear ratios - either gear ratio or prop
9) steering system - any (Mayfair is cheaper)
10) handling characteristics - hang on!

Yours truly,

Peter Hledin
