I know, there are Camaro sites for this, but I only have time for one website & it's got to be S&F!

Anyway, I do see alot of Camaros around here and in the photo gallery: Greg's museum tow car, Camaros in trailers, Raceman's sleepers, etc...

So heres a few I've enjoyed:

The one that started it all. 1968 Dad bought this one year old GM company car. 67 SS/RS with neary every option avail. Mom and bro. shown in the "new car". 66 olds in the background. I helped on my first valve job on this one at 9 yrs old, and was hooked. Moms family car 'till 1974.

Next was a 67 hot rod.331/4spd/4:88's. Big cam and compression. Ran high 12's. I bought the last 10 gals. of 260 that our local Sunoco station ever sold for this one. Dad's Cosworth Vega in back, and 71 Vette in front.

Great thread SMS. I'd like to see the Other Motorsports Forum get goin' good.

Here's my current one. It's a 69 plane jane. I had a 68 396/375 that was a very original cars back in the early 80's when I used to have the silly idea that you should sell a car whenever you buy one. A 63 Corvette Fuelie came along that I really wanted and I bought it and sold the L78. I've still got the Corvette, but it was REAL stupid to sell that Camaro. This car isn't much from a collectibility standpoint, but it's a real shocker for the ricers that want to jump it for some reason.

The engine is a complete, 70 model LS7 crate motor. For those who don't know, this engine was intended by Zora to be the replacement in the 70 Corvette for the L88 which was the highest performance engine ever available. Unfortunately, he never got it past the front office and thus the big engine in the Corvette for 70 was the LS5 with it's oval port heads, low rise intake & Quadrajet, 10.25:1 compression and small hydraulic camshaft. The LS7's were sold over the counter as crate engines and this one was one of several owned by the Floyd Garret Muscle car Museum in Tenn. It was still in the crate as of about 7 or 8 years ago when a friend here talked him into selling it. Like the second design L88 and ZL1, the LS7 had 12:1 compression and the ZL1 camshaft, as well as solid lifters and the other std. GM high po stuff. For some reason, unlike the ZL1 and L88, the LS7 crate motors didn't come with alum. heads. Anyhow, this one's complete with the addition of a set of Hooker Super Comps and an MSD A6L ignition. Of course it's straight race gas too. With the 3.73 gears the skinny weinys don't even try to hold it. I think it'll probably run 11's with tires.

sms, I've got 2 Fuelies actually, a 62 and the 63 Roadster. Both are scattered and not picture ready. I posted pictures of the 62 in this forum last year when I bought it. The 63 was a local car and completely disassembled in 64 with no damage and 4066 original miles. The guy did it so his mother couldn't sell it and it's never been completed. I've had it for over 20 years.

"Someday I hope to have a 67 or 68 and put a 5.7 EFI in it!"

Give that car some cahunas and stick in a big block. GM's new 572 crate motor ought to scratch your itch, if they ever quit dangling the carrot and introduce it, and if that's too pricey there are some bargains on 502 craters.

I have another view of the race car engine. Later I put this in a buddy's Vega. It was the old USA-1 Don Hardy built pro stock car driven by Bruce Larson, around '73. The Vega still had a Lenco trans. With one 4-bbl and easy launches we ran 9.40's. It sure was a dream to work on a tube chassis car that was held together with Dzus fasteners!

Auto, 4.10 rear, shift kit, exhaust, etc.

Best 1/4 time: 14.10 at about 98 mph. This car was never beat in first gear but didn't have the horsepower to pull on the big end. What a fun car, beat a lot of mustangs in this car.
