This is a factory Allison rear boarding step that I just installed on my XS2003. A lot of people have never seen one of these on an Allison so I thought I might share it. Sure makes it easier to get in the boat from the water. Plus, you dont have drill anything into your fiberglass like with a ladder.

I've always wanted something like that for my Prosport. How proud ($) of it is Allison? ;)

Great idea, I like it!

I have to get in my 'stream like getting out of the swimming pool without a ladder, (onto the wing)

thanks for sharing that with us.
I've always wanted a step on my boat, but figured it's better to let people struggle than to drill holes in my transom.:p
I'll have to get one of those, or make one depending on the price.

Allison gets roughly $80 bucks for these things with the fasteners. Seemed high at first but considering the quality/utility/ and the fact that you don't have some telescoping bayliner part hanging off of the back your boat makes it worth it. I'm an engineer and have access to a great machine shop so I cost justified building one myself. Even neglecting my labor it was more expensive to make it at our shop. Our shop charges $45 hr for labor. Parts included we couldn't come close to Allison. This part comes well finished, I.E. all of the edges are deburred and smoth, the gussetted weld on the bottom is good work, and the fasteners are good quality. If I was going to make one myself, and I may just for sh!ts and giggleles, I would make it out of 2" by 1/2" extruded aluminum stock on the jack plate end. Then 45 it out toward the stern for about 6". Lastly, for the foot rest, I would bring it back parallel to the stern and weld a 4" by 1/2" flat aluminum stock and coat it with some marine non-skid. This part would only add about 3 lbs. I would make it for the port side to help control weight and balance because I don't have a center steer boat. Also, I'm 250 pounds and this thing deflects very little. I'm sure it could be made lighter.

80 bucks seems ok to me.

I think Randy could give us a quantity discount if we both order from him

...let's corner him Saturday and see if he knows they even exist. If he doesn't, my engineering logic tells me he should let em go at cost? Oh that's right, engineers and salesmen don't always see i2i. :p

Just an afterthought, but this thing looks a bit like an afterplane. Methinks they need make one that extends out both sides? Or if at all out the port side to help keep the hole shot twist to a minimum?

What's J think, over?

Marty Logan has a large stainless pad that he has extended to the port rear of his drag boat just to keep the launch from twisting.

Guys have been building skid plates on there Allisons for better hole shots also. I think what Cliff really wants is a wheelie bar so he can stand his on end:D

I ride wheelies without wheelie bars, when I can't see the tree tops anymore, I know its time to hold it where it is, and not to raise it up anymore:D

I run on a river that is narrow, and there are trees less than 100' to either side.

I'm sure there is a law against running where you can't see whats in front of you:eek:

I just picked up this step directly from Mrs. Allison this weekend at Jasper. All I need to do now is drill the step and jack plate and bolt it up. The wife can't wait until I install it.

too cool. but If I make it to easy for the old girl to get in and out, she may want to spend more time in the boat.why carry the extra weight. just kidding i'll never get rid of my bartender/boat waxer.
