I think a guy said you can get into the 80s with a 150hp 2.5 V6 right? They don't give away the STV hulls:) But they are around and they do haul. I can tell you Santa does not have one for me yet:(
Waiting for that video to load...thanks!

BDD! Finally getting some stuff out the door here so I hope to get on a boat this winter. Getting cooler at night but trees are still green here...hmmm, snow...yep, I remember it but I've been trying real hard to forget for many months.:) Have the boats here at the house finally.
My helper stays away from the boats and cars too, but does well in other areas like the yard and house...? She must know better.
Get ahold of a stock Merc 2.5 200, and you should be all over the 80s in a reliable STV. Or maybe a 225PM, I don't know what the price diff is on them... I been afraid to look. I guess it is pretty easy to bump up a 2.5 150 up to a 200 anyway.

Hey all,
Glad you liked it - actually, that was just a quick edit I did last night while I was working on the footage I'm putting together for the Scream And Fly DVD. I have a 20MB version of that file that looks (and sounds) way better, but I didn't think too many people would want to download something that large. To tell you the truth, I wasn't even going to post the video at all. Again, it was just a quick distraction from other work.
I really need to get more video footage of the STV though, and we'll have it when we use that boat (and my V-King) for the Brucato PCU test.
As for the camera, I used a Canon digital video camcorder. There was no special mounts or tripod. Yesterday was not planned - we were just messing around, so I didn't bring anything besides the camera. I was kneeling upright in the back seat of the Valero. I was riding in a Valero YT along side the STV and we were going about 70-75 mph for that stuff. When the STV pulled away, we were at about 80 mph, so get an idea of how fast Helmut was going!
Helmut ran 121 mph on the first pass in the video.
The DVD is a professional undertaking, so the quality and edits will be much better.

I saw Helmut's tape last night - that was some crazy stuff. Ronnie, as usual you were totally on the edge.
Also, seeing Jerry go down from a fat bug impact was too funny. Wednesday is a plan. The weather is supposed to be great too. I'll bring everything I have and let's get some great video!

we can use my boat to film yours ronnie and maybe get Herb with the 21 intimidator to film mine. That video from my camera on friday is crazy but its shaky as all hell. it was a little too rough that day and it was hard to drive a 100 and film at the same time. you still have to see it though its wild. there are a few good pieces in there maybe we can put in the video.

That chat room has been acting strange for many users - we're going to install one in-house to solve this. Perhaps one where registered users from this forum could log in.

Okay, you asked for it! I just made this tonight (really quickly) with other video footage from yesterday. I included the STV video from the earlier segment. This one is 33MB, but there is a 15MB version which is lower quality. Again, keep in mind that this was a *really* quick compilation, and it's pretty simple and rough around the edges.
STV/Hydrostream Video - 33MB (http://www.screamandfly.com/home/videos/STV_hydrostream_9.7.2003/STV_hydrostream_33mb.wmv)
STV/Hydrostream Video - 15MB (http://www.screamandfly.com/home/videos/STV_hydrostream_9.7.2003/STV_hydrostream_15mb.wmv)
Enjoy!

what prop ran best for you?
Scream And Fly
09-09-2003, 11:29 PM
The best prop I ever used was a Mazco-cut Mercury big-ear 14.5 x 28P Chopper. It was a fantastic prop - they cut it for a V-king V-bottom, but it ended up working great on the YT. It was something like 6-7 mph faster than a stock 28 Chopper - for real. Funny thing was, that prop got wrecked three times (including getting a blade folded back), and it went back to Mazco every time for repairs. It just got better and better with each repair!
Me and my friend Matt still talk about that prop. I have the number somewhere that Mazco stamped on it, so in theory, they could reproduce the cuts they made on it.

thanks im just learning how to drive it. im trying to get over the shake from sponson to sponson when it tries to get on the pad.
Scream And Fly
09-09-2003, 11:38 PM
The YT is a tunnel, so it really won't get up on a pad. The YT boats "break away" and start to air out at about 72-75 mph. When that happens, they pick up speed very quickly. You shouldn't really have any problems with sponson walk if you keep on top of it once it airs out. Just take it slow and get used to it. It's actually a very easy hull to drive and it's extremely forgiving. Try not to overtrim it - the YT is supposed to run pretty level. Let the packed air in the tunnels do most of the work.

...make great camera boats....thats waht Mike M used to when he shot our STV video too.
Actually I agree with GREG on the YT...they are impressive for what they are and do acelerate real hard.
Mike M's was very impressive with its 95 mph top end with 225PM.
Too bad its not about 2 feet longer cause the XT hull at 20', does not even compare in performance in my opinion.
