I'm have an 86' Hydrostream V-king YT with a 86' 175 Merc. I currently run a 29" Hoss Triton at 6100 rpms at 76mph. I just bought a 26" Ron Hill/ Hoss copy from Elim21 to try and get the RPMs up about 500..... It didn't work, it runs exactly the same RPM and speed as the 29" Hoss.
Is there any reason other than the prop why this thing won't turn over 6100 RPMs. Compression is 138 on all 6 and the motor runs great.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Mac.

The 175's are vertical reed motors and don't like to rev very high. Also the triton is a 14'' prop and the hill/hoss I think is a 15'' that will want to be run much higher.

What kind of setup do you have?Is the motor stock?Do you have a jack and how much set back?If your getting the same speed with the 26 as the 29 and the same rpm's it sounds like it has much less slip.
