Finally had a good boating weekend without any
rain, but it did come with some excitement. The good,
this was the first weekend I really held the pedal to the
floor in the STV, got 114 out of it. It made me real happy,
thinking to myself it's time to start drinking. Next is the
bad. Before I got to get drinking, a local begged for a ride
in the STV. He's been bugging for awhile, so I said ok. I
also took my kids for this ride. I held my two kids on my
lap as I drove, and this guy sat in the passenger seat.
With my kids on my lap, my side of the boat had atleast
300 lbs. of weight, and the boat still had a hard lean to
the other side. This dude must have been 400 lbs. I was
scared more than when I do 100mph passes. It felt
like the boat was just gonna roll over. Now I put the boat
away and it's time for the fun. But it gets worse. The
whole family and friends of ours are riding in the pontoon
boat cruising before supper. For years my kids have been
brainwashed by me about how Mercury's are the best and
the fastest. We see another boat go past us with a Yamaha
on it. The kids recognized the name because they got a
Yamaha pw50 dirtbike for Christmas this year. Well guess
what, they tell me since Yamaha dirt bikes are the fastest,
that Yamaha boat engines are also the fastest. My three
year old boy said we should buy a Yamaha and then we
could go even faster than our Mercury goes. Kids sure can
be brutal today, no matter how much they hurt your feelings.
Hope you all had a good weekend, I sure did.
Take care,
Matt

Brain washing is when you are NOT telling the truth.

"My three year old boy said we should buy a Yamaha and then we could go even faster than our Mercury goes."

It just shows how much parental guidance is required on a daily basis to keep kids from making the wrong choices in life. I blame the liberal media for misconceptions such as the one displayed here, and if Al Gore had been elected, God only knows how many kids could've fallen into this kind of trap, and with Hillary in New York things like this are happening on a daily basis. It's really good that you were able to catch it at such an early stage before real damage was done. In another few years a full exorcism might have been required. It's too late for people like JeffYammer and several others, but hopefully, later in life your son won't even have any recollections of these thoughts.

Try to find a silver lining in this cloud. At least he didn't have such a misconception involving an OMC.

My kids have no problems,
but it was because I educated them at a young age.
They laugh at OMC's and ask why people use Yamaha's,OMC's ect. when they see them.
I'm quick to tell my kids the truth. Son, don't laugh, they're poor. Not everybody can afford a merc.;) :D

I guess one day they'll figure out I'm biased.
BUT until then it works well.

Maybe I should paint their dirtbike black
and put Mercury stickers on it.
