This is the list of drivers in today's (April 30-May 1) 24 hour race. The only US driver I see on this list is John Castelli from California -- he will drive for #5 Team Omega -- there may be other US drivers not listed.

The website http://www.24heuresrouen.com has live web-cam and reports, but it's in FRENCH. To translate the entire page to English, you can goto
http://translation.langenberg.com/
and use the "TRANSPARENT TRANSLATE A WEBPAGE" from French to English.

They will be racing non-stop for 24 hours, until tomorrow sometime; yes, even at night! Good luck to all the teams!

The departure: Franck Revert does the Hole-Shot

The French flag hardly shaken by Rock Albertini, mayor Rouen and already, the boats thrusted themselves in the race in order to be the quickest to pass the point l'Ile Lacroix.

After hardly 2MN, this is finally Franck Revert, pilot of the S3000 Team Kodak that realizes the Hole-Shot: it is in fact in head followed of very near by Michel Hulley, of the team Privilege (boat n°11) and of Nico Bertels of the team Ghostbuster (boat n°16).

Side S850, the first to pass the bouée is Piloted by Good Didier, team CMN (boat n°68). It is followed Cyril Dron, team TC4/CASINO (boat 37).

Thanks for the linke BK. I had no idea that race was on right now. That race does not get the international recognition that it should have. What is with Johnson? They have a serious team effort going on right now. Who is supporting that team? I am not an OMC guy, but I think it is great that they are doing so well. Its no fun if the Mercs win all the time!:)

The French really know how to put on a race. I would love to see that race and LeMans. I understand LeMans is just a 24 hour party. Everyone goes to watch the start, takes off and parties, then everyone goes back to watch the finish!:p
Cool Stuff!

Looks like it is cold and rainy there right now. It is doing the same thing in Seattle.

You're right. The boat in the lead #18 is under JOHNSON power! Looks like there are only 4 teams running OMC, the rest are Merc. (along with a onslaught of S850 Yamahas and one lone Honda)

The only thing I know about team #18 KODAK is about the third driver from Hungary -- Rudy MUHALDINECZ. He is known iin Formula One as a driver who pushes way too hard, as captured in these pictures:

http://www.f1boat.com/99/dunaujvaros/flying_rudolf.htm

Hope he can keep it right side up for the next 19 hours!

Well, last hour #18 Kodak slipped back to second place --- with #1 Winner Performance taking the lead. Now -- hour 6, apparently Winner Perfomance went down or something and dropped to 4th --- And Kodak is back in 1st, followed by #5 OMEGA with our US driver in 2nd place!

Well that Johnson appears to be humming right along -- now 20+ laps ahead of second place. But they better watch that PEGASE RACING boat; they appear to move up one position every hour. 13 to go! (But I'm going to bed) Race safe, guys!

PS About the main page photo of the pits -- I left that page open for a while, reloaded and the image changed.

Can't believe these motors can keep up this pace for 22 long hours!!! These drivers must be close to going loopy by now, just wishing this was all over with. Less than 2 to go...

As I suspected, PEGASE (Merc) racing caught them then closed the door. Our US driver on Team OMEGA (Merc) is now in Second, followed by the Johnson team KODAK with the "Flying Hungarian" Rudy M.

But which galère: This race takes airs of ways Of cross for certain Teams. Notably for the Team POSEIDON that after hours of repair to the résine, of séchage Under stretched...recasse! Not any luck, the floor resumes water and the straight skate is broken.

Hello mom bobo: again less of luck for the pilot of this boat, Philippe Severe that sort of this new avarie with a break of the scaphoïde straight...carpien 90 days of gypsum in perspective!

M as ... : As Margueritte of course ! There be an appelation well charming and almost of season for valves admission in carbon and réputés very Solid. These marguerittes nevertheless broke on the boat 18. "The motor swallowed something!" elegant manner equally for Daniel Revert to explain that it lacks at least 400 to 800 tr/mn to the motor of this same boat to be to the top!

Future star: This is all to smile that Marry-Line Héricher, unfortunate pilot of the feminine team of the l'OTR, Is appeared in front of the caméras France 3 this morning on his stand. She records in fact a transmission with Richard THE HOST : visit guided in the slides of the race.

Check : The hour is to the checks in the stand re-provisioning. Patrick Chandelier and his team proceeds in fact to verifications of the fuel used by the Teams...

Out: the boat 1 of the Team WINNER PERFORMANCE Is to the stand definitively. The straight skate is broken. A repair would be possible but there would be a huge delay to rattrapper so that that some be worth pain it.

To the shelter: Only 16 boats are currently on the circuit. The Other are under cover in their stands. Revisions or repairs...of all manner, it rains everywhere, on the circuit as in the stands!

I just read where Team OMEGA with driver John Castelli had a scary mishap and lost his 'directional Cable'; I'm pretty sure this means his steering broke. But he was able to come to the pits and repair it -- he's back on the course!
GO JOHN!

(translated badly from French)

This is finished! Bravo!!!

#8 PEGASE (Mercury)
#18 KODAK (Johnson)
#5 OMEGA (Mercury) US Driver John Castelli

Beautiful race for all the participants to this first championship of the World Endurance.

In recap, one will remember last line arrival for Jimmy Revert since he decided to put an end to his career as a pilot. The boat n°3 piloted by Miguel Ribeiro finally finished his race but slowly. But this is with pleasure that one notices Jimmy Revert sitting on the boat in company Jérôme Bègue for an honor lap.

One will remember equally of the boat n°8 who being not sure if it be able to do a complete lap, had to climb back up the circuit, against all odds, to pass under the checkered flag in the direction of the victory!

Bravo equally the girls who supported their co-pilots during these 24 hours...Marry-Line and Gaella had to smile for the lap honor on the boat of the boys!

Felicitation again for the technical team of the Team NAVY who, once the breakdown reason found, allowed the pilot N°6 to finish the 4 last laps in company of his "little brother", the n°22.

Not too surprising either for the final derby of the S3000. The order of places on the podium was the 8, the 18 and the 5...they dominated a good part of the race.

Paradox equally in the category S850. Although the boat 45 of the Youam Caroline finished in the lead of the race, those pilots would not recieve the title of Champions of France since the team welcomed Alain Foliard, an inexperienced pilot. This gave the advantage to the boat 65 of the Team PRIVILEGE, second in the general finish, but nevertheless now Champion of the World.

Some flowers also for the Team CMN and especially equipment of boat 111, the experimental boat that gave its crew Several concerns but that finished his race anyway. The team did not place, but deserves the honors. Do not forget that the boat was completely reconstructed during the night...That's the Spirit of the sport!

One cries joy to the stand of the TEAM STAR-BOAT. The team is champion of the World with the boat 24 in the category S2000. Congratulations therefore to Christophe Larigot, Frédéric Finel, Yves Gueroult, the pilots but also all those that have worked in the shadow of this beautiful victory, 37 laps ahead of the following; the n°22 of the Team NAVY.

And then go...some amount to finish this first report. The #8, 1st place S3000 travelled the trifle of 2710.8 km in 24 hours of race. The unfortunate girls who raced, did only 4 laps and travelled 15.2 km...this is like putting a round trip Paris-Valence in the n°51 and the N°8....

Fortunately besides that, to go and return to Valence (south L'Espagne) one does not consume as much fuel as for these 24 hours. The boats consume in average between 100 and 120 liter of fuel per hour for a S3000. The total of the consumption for this edition is therefore of 27526 liters for the competitors. Some including the assistance, one succeeds in the trifle 31063 consumed... 9 Francs per liter, the grade must not leave rêveuse...

Thank-you also to Alain Eponville, very dear President that had the delicacy to send for the sun some instants before the start...to less that it be not there for nothing...but it was very!!!
