when sitting at line and trying to clear motor out by reving in neatral i here they have a tendency to jump in reverse causing catastrphic failure?i will remove by grinding off clutch jaws and gearteeth on reverse gear.will i now be able to pull shifter and hold in reverse while revving engine so there is no chance of it slamming into forward?i will also upgrade to heavy aftermarket bearing carrier and address issue with clutch crosspin that has tendency to come out.on a budget and cant afford stecbauer mods.any advice is helpful

It is spring loaded to jump in forward gear not reverse . Your solution will probley work but I do it a little different.

Your modifications are a must but i also use the merc fishing motor control box that positivley locks in neutrel I adjust the cable at the motor towards the rear in the neutrel slot . no trouble in the last 7 yrs.
