Dual cable opposing Ride-Guide/Teleflex w/ dual flat racks at helm.
I know the forward tube with the port side cable is where the adjustment takes place.
is it adjusted toward the starboard side of the boat or the port side ? In other words is it in compression or is it pulling ? seems like the slack can be adjusted out either way. Which way is correct ?

Somebody PLEASE help ol' Steve Austin out, He's got a new 2004 225x that hasn't even been wet yet. I don't know much about steering adjustments, I just know I want to ride in his boat.
HELP HIM GET HIS STEERING RIGHT, PLEASE.

but shoot "BIG B" a PM and see if he can tell you, he works for Teleflex marine and can probably tell you what you need to know. just do a member search for "BIG B"

Basically you want to accomplish two things, centering the wheel, and taking out any slack. Start from centered wheel, and adjust each cable housing (the same amount on each side) away from tiller arm till all slack is gone, and just a bit of pre-load is achieved. That should do it.
