Due to a great deal of mail on the topic of single event membership - particularly the ODBA World Championship event in Jasper, TN - I will clear up some issues:

This is a quote directly from the 2003 Racing Rules:

"Article III MEMBERSHIP; #3: SINGLE EVENT COMPETITION MEMBERSHIP:
Any person wishing to compete with ODBA for one event paying a fee equal to one-half of the Competition Membership Fee. Single Event Membership fee will apply to Competition Membership at a later event that season. Single Event Members receive no voting privileges and will be skipped for ODBA High Points"

What this means to someone ONLY competing at Jasper is:

1.) $125 single event membership fee
2.) $125 registration fee - per class
3.) $65 spec fuel - 10 gallons SUNOCO @ $6.50/gal. (NOT $8.00)
4.) $6.00 - one quart of spec oil - Klotz R50

We are trying to do everything we can to keep the cost of racing down to a minimum. We have an agreement with SUNOCO this year that has them providing fuel at the track for $6.50 instead of $8.00 charged in the past. With the rising costs of insurance and the price for the best rescue crew available (nothing to skimp on), we are doing all we can to provide for our members. The ODBA is a non-profit organization (of racers and for racers) - the officers, Board of Directors, and rules committee, all do this for love of the sport, donating time and many small costs out of their own pocket.

I hope this helps,
