Also, I guess those people didn't exactly have the concept of setback figured out yet.
I'm amazed at the prop pitch......or lack thereof.
Years ago I had a 40 horse Gale (Made by OMC) on a Traveler Comet (14' runabout)..... The prop we used was a bronze two blader and had about three times the pitch of the one in the picture........ Which is odd considering that the boat(plane?) pictured ought to be faster than the Traveler.......maybe.
Anyway....the right answer is the absence of a Merc....or at the very least...a Flying Scott;)

I wonder if that motor's just for display. Like you said the prop doesn't look right and there's no shift cable.
At least the shift lever's in the "forward" position....... I wonder if there's an "up" button?

I know its white, but the name on the motor starts with an "M"
Could it be a Merc?

WW, you better get those eyes checked. That is definately a 1958 model 35 horsepower Johnson. That's the way they made that funky capital J. The first peak you see is the top of the J and the second one is the top of the h. The fat 50 of the same year was equally stylish with 4 fake exhaust holes in the rear of the cowl. It was the first of the V4 OMC's and may have been one of the most fuel inefficient outboards ever built.
