It doesn't look like it, have you tested with more or less trim? We (my son)run a Mirage Polecat and have found that too much trim slows us down by dragging the sponsons not to mention it will get flighty. I see you are running 12 sec class but can run 11.3s. Good luck and by the way thanks for posting all the pictures from races out your way, we are racing Quincy Ill this weekend

Thanks for the info! I'm trying to figure out how to move up to SE class!

But I need to cut another .34 off my time!

Good looking boat.

The only thing I could think is check into whichever it is- cleaver, or chopper props that tend to have a little more lifting ability to get the rear of the boat higher, but more level.

You'd have a bit longer piece of sponson surface on the water, but maybe a fraction less deep.

Of course, then you might need to add a elevated tail section with rudder & elevators in order to steer, control 'yaw' movement on the bow; and perhaps a pair of airleon tabs closer to the front for fine tuning the trim.

Good luck with it fella.

Before you know it, you'll be approaching geezerdom.

Then you'll want to take your 'nooners' as a glass of milk & a nap.

And end up with a boat like this guy------

Jay, What can I say, you build one hell of a motor! (I hope you didn't just jinx me!) I don't really have that much time on it, most of it is in 12 second spirts.

I've only had it at the lake once or twice, and it's my opinion that Race'n it for 12 seconds or less, is a heck of alot easier on it than running at the lake! Now I'm only turning it to 8000 to keep in my class, (and I never get it hotter than 920 degrees in one pass) But i'm sure after this season, I will have you either rebuild it or build me something else! (Drag motor, yeah!)

I only have two race's left with SDBA, and Smokin in the Cove or maybe chandler AZ for the world finals, So If it can hold together untill then, it has earned it's keep.

I'm all over my number's now, I've figured out how to run the lights, and also how not to break out! (last time I talked to ya I was turning 11.3's) Now all I have to do is bring home a 1st! In Marble falls, I was only getting beat by .020 of a second or buy .100 on my reaction time. And I slowed down on a few of those passes to keep from break'n out.

I'll be in Pine Bluff for Labor day and I hope to put a 1st place on this bad little JSRE Fish'n mota!

Thanks for building a great motor for me, and thanks for following it's life.:D

When the season is up we will rebuild ( modify ) and put you in the 10 second class and you'll have to start over with the lights all over again ! Most people don't know thats a legal Super Stock motor ! Your a good driver and a good competitor.......... I've got several guys that are going to the rope with you next year !

Good luck !

yes , your running it to wet! that bow is too high and theres too much ass end in the water. is this the old mod vp 89- below or do you have an inverted v hull? that boat should be almost flat and riding high in the back if its the newer style hull , if its the older boat you could get the back end a little higher , what prop are you running? mirages love looking at the sky , stvs ride closer to the surface

Mercman, it's an old 88 Mod VP. I'm running a 22 Yamaha drag worked by Tillman. Center of prop shaft is about 1" above transom. I'm running about 80mph here.

I have the same boat. It has a stock 93 Merc 2.5. It has a 6" jack even with the pad. I run a modified SRX prop at 26" pitch. I have ran it in only one race sofar. Its nice to get some tips. Thanks for the post.

actually im curious what your top speed is , so you have a modified fishing block by jay? i ran a few of the older bottoms. i ran a bobs hydraulic plate on one and no plate on the other , the boat was designed for no jackplate and will actually run pretty good without one. i ran a couple of yamaha style props on the boat but found that a mazco re-3 ran the best. email me sometime , i'll give you the full scoop , i would like to know what your boat weight is , and how high you have the motor on the boat and what gearcase your running
