"The engine is capable of turning 6,000 rpm but has been run up only to 4,200 rpm's. At 4,200 the boat travels 72 mph."
Hmmmmm....
Someone, get the owner of this boat in here so we can help him out a little with his math, among other things.
I wonder if he added a torquetab to that offshore CLE. Doesn't look like it...

Man that's what happens when a low performance boat comes in contact with a high performance engine. I fooled with a couple of those boats about 20 years ago with a brother in law that thought they were cool lookin'. Talk about a boat that you couldn't get the porpoise out of and they were it. One got rigged with an old OMC somewhere in the 90 to 110 HP range and it was ridiculous with it. The boat had about 1/2" of hook in the last 3 feet of bottom. The brother in law found a second one and it was the same way. It got rigged with an old 1150 Merc and I refused to ride in it after the first trip. I can't imagine stickin' a V6 on one. They're cool looking but the bottom design was straight outta the 50's, probably with strong influence from the 40's.

Didn't you read about that factory high performance lower unit. I suspect he is swinging a 28 pitch prop with his special 1.4:1 lower unit. :D

I guess he admitted he put a pad on it. I like the part about rated for 60hp motor, and this motor is at least twice the weight:D What a waste of Merc.

Aside from the humor of that setup and the owner's commentary, that boat is just plain dangerous. I would never promote that kind of foolish "hot boating." It's a danger to the operator and others on the water.

that boat at 40 mph is the most unstable boat i ever seen...like i posted earlier,i had one wen i was a kid,and the hull design was bad...that thing hit the water so hard my teeth are still loosefrom 28 years ago!!!!!

I was looking at my old '67 Chriscraft last weekend, and am amazed at how wrong the glass hull is. the chines are a little over an inch wide, no wonder the water blasts off the rubrail in a turn. The pad is sort of rounded and a shallow vee, but has a maybe 1.5" square beam from the bow to a couple foot short of the transom, what is that for? Also has a high deadrise for the last 6" to the chine also helping the water climb the sides. If I ever get to restoring it, I think I'll have to make a whole new bottom onto it with a flat pad, bigger than the sub-.5" strakes, and some chines to dry it out. The bow seems to be pretty good though. Of course the 1" hook in it now did not help either:eek: It drove ok, but hated any wakes.

IT WAS EVEN A BAD RIDE BEHIND THE BOAT, 2 SKIES AND 75FT OF LINE..DIDN'T MAKE IT ANY BETTER..:D :D :D
