Just an average day of testing but managed to put another hour on the motor, 100MPH's on the meter, kill a bird and get a ticket:p
Ran a 32" Mazco RE3 to try and get the boat speed up while still keeping motor speed down durring break in. Doing this to get as much seat time as possible instead of breaking the motor in and then having zero seat time at speed.
Was kinda fun cruising around 4K and seeing 60/65 on the meter:D
Got to the lake late and only got about 20 mins of good water before it got rough and busy.
Raised the motor 1 1/2" from last time and now drives totally different!!
The Mazco has way too much rake for this boat too. Anyhting above neutral trim at speeds over 70 and it tried to come over on me.
Still figuring out instruments. My new hand held GPS seems to be slow updating and I'm not sure my tach is right either??
Got one stretch of clean water about a 1/2 mile before a no wake zone.
Set the boat and put my foot in it for just a few seconds and saw this on the meters "tattle tale".

6K on re-call (about 90 on the calculator), GPS showed 85.
I was only at that speed for a second so that is my thinking on the slow reacting GPS and I am chasing ignition gremilns that I think may be attributing to my low readings on the tach.(at constant speeds, the meter only reads about 1 MPH above the GPS)
(ran with my buddies Alli @ 90 with a 26" wheel @ 6700 and that don't compute to 90??)
Then the bad part.
I knew I'd end up very close to the no wake if I kept my foot in it but it was the first good water that i got.
Well, I blew into the "no Wake" zone at what ever speed I was actually going.
Oop's:p

was flying in front of me very low to water when it saw me and tried to climb out of my way.
It did'nt make it:eek:
Pretty much out of time for much more before we head to the river Wednesday A.M.
Have one last set of mount holes to move my seats up to, to help weight distribution and I need it.
Any other improvements will be made down there.

What do you think I could do to get one of those tickets. Thats what you get for having a Yellow boat. You may have gone unnoticed.
But seriously.....I have a prop for you to try out at the rumble, a mean 4 bladed 30 pitcher, and from what I have seen with it, it really grabs the water on my V-King:D

Does that say "TOO FAST" on the bottom of that ticket? Hang on, let me go put my contacts in.....
Ok, now I know it does..I didn't think that was possible.
Hey Gator,
Inquiring minds want to know..how did you react tot he water cops when they wrote you the ticket.;)

Tom, guy was very cool and I was very polite. I knew he was in the area cause I saw him writing some one before.
I told him I would have shut off and waited for him if I had known for sure that he saw me.
I was wrong and knew it.
I had the first good pass of the day going and made the descion that it was worth a ticket for blowing through the no wake.
The cops are way worse on Alum Resivoir (1/2 hour opposite direction) and it would have probablt gotten ugly. (the ones that warned me for trimming the background from the "Ohio" stcicker.)
Thie guy asked for all my safety equip and trusted me when I told him it was all up under the deck.
Told him I screwed up, and why I did it and he was fine.
Charlie, bring it!
I am more concvinced now more than ever that I want a Cleaver for WFO. The boat flys on it's own with no help from a wheel!

Well Gator, at least your experiences with Ohio Water Cops are better than mine, LOL.
P.S. Don't get me started on that trimming the OHIO sticker, LOL

I'll have my 30 Spinelli cleaver with me up there. That's my top end wheel and it works great. You'll have to give it a spin :)

That 30 Spinelli was on a V-King before I got it.

Yup, perfect for an overpowered boat when no bow lift is wanted. It lifts the stern on mine an inch. Have to come down on the jackplate. It just works perfect, it even planes out faster than some choppers with lower pitch I've tried.
Pat - You mentioned plugging the outer holes on the Bob's big foot. I'd like to try that soon. At full lift my psi jumps 10 - 25 -10. Not a problem for short drags but on a long top end run it might be an issue. Ever try that other than your drag boat? Are you gonna make the Rumble?

I also run my lake boat the same way.
Buckeye lake! I lived in Thornville in 87-90. All that was out there was jet boats. Glad to hear your "wakin" things up!

Did ya get the 3 wire motor hooked up yet.Dave

I was going to do it. Bought the 3-wire motor and an extra trim switch (Bob's). I was going to just wire it completely separate of the 2-wire system with ford relays and just tuck the existing 12v switch up under the dash so I could go back to it easily.
Then after more testing and some prop work I'm finding that the trim seems to want to be left alone, set it where it wants it at top end (nearly nuetral) and use the jack plate (which is 24v).
Works like a champ, no need to even move the trim.
I'll bring the parts if somebody wants to buy them off me to convert up there. It should be simple to do. Just need two relays.

Works slick as snot!!!
Thank You Dave!!!!
Nearly out of time but that was on top of my to do list. Did it last night w/o pulling the motor. (was'nt sure if I could do this or not)
Have'nt wire yet but jumped it last night and even with 12 volt it is 200% faster than original.
Thank You again Dave, I was very nervous of this boat with that trim!
You coming up??
Gary
B.L., am very curious to see what you have set up/rigged.
Does it even look like a boat/motor;) :D
I would like to try that Cleaver too.
My boat, like oyurs, needs near no bow lift!
See yah in a couple days and be carefull on the road!!
