Hi!

Do any of you had any experience with Mazco HP4 prop?? My boat is a Phantom 25 & Promax 300. Weight approx. 2.400 lbs with engine and gas. Best prop so far is Tempest 26 (blueprinted) running 78 mph at 6.100 mph. Had to remove some setback due to problems in high seas (too tail heavy). Current setback is 5,5 inches. Topspeed is now 77 mph at 6.000 rpms. Need bowlift. Or should i go for Trophy 4 blade? DR Spinnelli did not work. Chopper II is just as fast as Tempest 26, but less cruise speed.

Cheers, Toffen G

Hi Toffen!

I would try to use a stick-saw and saw out the floor (dorken) in front of the seats towards the bow. Espen and Thor Henning have done that. When I took it out, I went from 69,6 to 71,8 knots!

Try to maesure the thickness of the plate, and then you can calculate how much weight-reduction you can expect. I beleive your boat (aswell as mine) is sensitive for extra weight the longer foreward it is.

When you have cut it out, you can mount it with hinches so the boat is still capable for over-nighting.

Let me hear from You!!!

Cheers, Erik;)
