View Full Version : what prop on a Voo Doo?

If all goes well I will soon pick up a Voo Doo with an 80's vintage 4 cyl Merc 85. Last year for various reasons I didn't get the boat. I would have gotten the boat if I had bought Mark Casper's 650XS:) Live and learn.

The plan is to set the top of the torpedo level with the bottom of the boat.

I have a 24" small hub laser. If the 85 will turn mid 5000's I should be in the low 50's (2.3 gears). This will be fast enough for a neophyte V bottom driver. Will this prop be a good 'starter' prop?

My second question is what prop should I look for once I learn how to drive the boat? How much pitch? Chopper or cleaver? What will fit the engine? Will my small hub torqueshift fit? It doesn't have much bowlift, and I could adjust the pitch to suit.

Thanks
