SHE DID IT!!!

My 2yr old "April" made her maiden voyage today all suited up and ready to go!!! She just sat back and took it all in. She surprised me by not wanting to drive??? Nothing seemed to bother her. She kept looking back at that opened exhaust outboard but didn't mind the noise. I slowly brought her up on plane and worked our way up from 30 to 40 mph. I forgot just how much fun this 13 footer was even at slow speeds. Eventually we had to deal with 1 Cruiser wake. No problem at all...we had just enough speed to get the bow over it, caught enough AIR for the boat to be completely out of the water but the gearcase stayed submerged. I had total control and didn't put either of us in any danger. I don't know if she even realized what we did. If we only didn't have to be back in time for lunch, we would still be out there.

Yes, in fact she wants to go tomorrow!!! She just finished helping freshwater flush the engine and wash the whole boat. I'm teaching her chores early....Cristy (our newborn) is doing great. Thanks....

to hear it went well Sharkey! I can't wait to get my 3 in the Baja! My youngest, 4, went nuts when I brought it home and it looked like a pile! imagine she'll be pretty excited to actually be in it on the water!

Thanks! As far as Cristy, I will probably wait just as long unless of course I have a bigger boat by then. I've been wanting to take April out for some time now, I think my wife just finally said yes maybe because she wanted us both out of the house for awhile so she had a little piece and quiet. Everything went well, we even came home the time we said we would...that was so hard because it was just such a nice day on the water and neither of us wanted to go home. Taking her out for her first time was just so cool. I can't ever remember taking my boat out without running it wide open. She let me feel how much fun it could be just cruising around at 30-40 mph and taking in the sights. I have her to thank for that. We will be going out again soon.......

Congratulations and what great news!

We're all very happy and thankful that you can share this wonderful experience with us. That is what truly makes our community unique - we truly are one big family.

I can still (barely)remember my dad taking me out when I was 2 years old on his old 1970 Johnson Tri-Hull boat. When I saw the bilge pump go on, I thought the boat was taking a piss! LoL!
