Sorry it's taking so long. "No need to worry" does that mean it's gone? Did'nt quite understand the post, but then again I'm still on my first cup o java and in the midst of computer problems here at the office! Everybodys screamin!
Anyway, I did start the second job last week but playing catch-up. Problem was(is?) my child support ($756.00/mo FOR ONE!!) was suppose to stop Aug.1st, IT DIDN'T! 2 different states, one says I still owe back support the other says I don't. Did get a good call this AM from state No.2 saying that all has been reconciled and they owe me! Said they will contact state No.1 and tell them to close the case! What a nightmare!
I'm doin this Baja on a shoe string right now. This should change soon though and I'll have more to work with. I know you cut me a deal and beleive me I appreciate it more than I can say. Sorry to have said "I want it" and then not have had the $$. Things are lookin up' though. I'll have to re-read your last post.

Ok maybe I get it...The V4 was/is actually 85? Coffee! wonderful stuff! Still have the V4?

Sounds like you're holding your chin up in spite of all that. My suggestion... head to latest S&F event (like Dale Hollow) and forget about things for a weekend.

The V4 is in the paper, but I doubt its going to move (I know the used market down here), but you never know, someone comes out and looks at those graphics, I could be pleasantly surprised. This would be the 4th time in the paper, my theory of the economy being in the crapper is slowly proving itself.

There isn't a better motor for that Baja.

Glad for me, sorry for u that it's still available. Just a little more time and all will be good!

For anyone out there payin child support, keep an eye on what is sent and what they say has been received. You can request a copy of the payment record and it would be a good idea to do so. I you pay by check, SAVE THE CANX CHECKS. Don't assume they have a handel on what you have paid! Don't wait until the end to begin the process of getting it stopped! I guessed it would be a hassel, but never thought it would be as bad as it was!

Thanks again Bruce! I'll keep you posted, Maybe I could get Barney to buy the motor and I'll.....oh never mind!

Sorry Barn I could'nt resist stirrin the pot.

It started out as an 85hp. I originally wanted a 75hp, but not to be found at the time. I figured what's a little more hp? Right? Well, one thing led to the next and I started learning what you had to do to get it to a 140. Besides, I never built a stock motor in my life, why start now ;) (actually not true, but I have been accused of that) ;)

Anyway, I rounded up or did the following mods to get it to 140;

1.) 140 heads (threw the 85s in the trash).
2.) exhaust adapter plate change (bubble back)
3.) milled block for the exhaust port stuffer blocks, and milled the lower area of the block for the center exhaust dump from the bubble style manifold.
4.) bored the ports to the stock 140 size, shape and location using a real 140 block as a template.
5.) feathered/smoothed the ports
6.) deburred the entire inside of the block and intake manifold
7.) Boyesen 2 stage plastic reeds
8.) 1 3/8" carbs off a later model 115hp
9.) modified low speed circuit in the carbs and initial timing for perfect low end/starting. Left top end timing stock.

and of course the usual... all new rod bearings, pistons, rings, lower bearing, seals, power packs, coils, timing base, thermostats, water pump, gaskets etc.

Interestingly, when I bought the 85, it had three blown cylinders (rings were actually missing), a bad power pack, a bad timing base yet the guy was still using it every weekend to go offshore with! With all that wrong it still started and ran every time. Amazing, they are truly good little motors.

Hi Baby!

Welcome to the S&F web site! I can attest to her patience!
The project Baja is a passion for me. I took a piece of what others would have called junk and so far it looks new again. There is no way I could done it with out her support! She has put up with my living in the garage, fiberglass resin on the basement carpet, the smell of fresh paint, the sound of the tools and last weekend the constant hammering as I chisled off all the bolts holding the bunks on the old trailer. The bedroom needs paint, one of the toilets dosen't flush properly, needless to say there is plenty of other things I could be doing! For me it's "fun" I'm sure for her it's been a pain in the arse! Gotta love the ladies who put up with us gear heads! She's one in a million and she is loved more than she'll ever know!http://www.goldenplasma.f2s.com/forum/smilies/love03.gif
Love ya babies! Welcome to the board!

i know what ya mean about having a good woman, ive been married 15 years sept.26th and she has put up with all the hot rod cars, trucks, guitars, and all the boats hell i had three running boats at the same time once but did sell two of them and kept the talon, blown more than my share of outboards most were my fault for not watching the guages and water pressure, every time i come home and tell her i blew up another one she says "well i guess your gonna have to build a new one huh" when i blew the 2.5 up she said "are you ok sweety? my vcr broke so we need to get a new one" and that was it!! now shes said what do we need to get for your motor? vacations coming up soon so lets get it running, so i know what ya mean!!! hopefully i'll build it here in the next week or two ive got all the exhaust milling done and machined all the sealing ring lands, cut 50 of my heads, cleaned the pistons polished the crank and installed a new lower bearing on it, have a new upper end cap and new seals and bearings, just need rods and a gasket kit and rings and i can spend a saturday in the garage assembling my beast and run her on sunday.

you guys have fun, skip
