Has anyone come across any "miracle products" that will help coax barncles off a bottom? My boat was left in the water too long by the previous owner and the bottom is a mess. I am not sure if the Checkmate bottom has clearcoat on it or not, so I am hesitant to use muriatic. Bleach seems to help soften them up for some reason. Any insight would be appreciated, thanx -Nat

I have heard that dropping the boat into a swimming pool works pretty well..apparently teh chlorine slowly kills them, and they drop off with little residue. However, I am sure that the pool would be a bit worse for wear after this!

Hello!

Try "Barnacle Remover" from International. I don't know if you have thar product in US but here it works well!!:p

if the boat is still in the water take them off in the watewr, they are easier to remove alive than dead. However, I am assuming it is out already.

I din't know about miracle products, but I have used a paint scraper to remove them, wet sand, and then buffer with rubbing compound and then polishing compound. I will ask around though and find out if there are any other suggestions.

Good luck,

Fish

heard back from two people, and they both said scrape the big stuff off and use muriatic acid for the rest. Never used it myself, so have no idea how it will work out, but just passing along the info. Good luck,

Try Salt acid and a pressurecleaner. It works like hell, but don't dare to put your fingers in this styff, cuzz they'll melt!

Good Luck!
