what chemical or acid do you use to clean the melted aluminum off the nickesil finish on the inside of the sleave from a burnt piston?

sleeves. I don't think you want to use it on the Nik sleeve. If thats chewed up, you need a new sleeve.

it's not chewed up... I just herd there was some kind of acid that you can use to clean it up a littel before you hone it:confused:

But I'm not sure that it won't do the same to the Nik as well, better get some more info before trying it, I'm sure somebody here can answer that question definitively. :cool:

2 Stroke motorcycle racing buddies, use a diluted solution of muriatic for nickle cylinders... Also we used to use a similar solution for overhauling diving regulators, and never had a problem with chrome coming off..... But that could be a completely different kind of chrome.

yea thats the acid thats what i wanted to know. A buddy of mine rebuilt lot's of merc's and told me about it but i could not remember what kind he told me... thanks :D
