77 Johnson 140 how heavy?
May be able to save some cash on the new trailer. Venture 1900 is $799.00, Venture 1200 is $599.00. They say my Baja weighs 645# Hopefully that 140 is under 555#'s, seems like it but.......

Thanks guys!

Thats sounds correct. I remember thinking when I carried it from the truck up the hill to the garage it didn't seem that heavy!

Under the 1200# for the cheeper Venture! Thats good news!

Tx Again!

Scott,

Don't cut it too close on the trailer. With fuel and coolers, other stuff, you'll be pretty close to a safe limit. A 1200 lb trailer has pretty small tires and hardware. You'll wish you'd spent another $200 if it fails you.

When I take a trip, the boat gets a lot of stuff in it like chairs, bikes, etc. too.

When I bought the E-Z loader I have now, the only difference in it and the next higher capacity model was the wheels. (14" instead of 13") I bought 2 new 14" wheels and now have 2 13" spares, and it was cheaper than buying the "bigger" trailer, if that makes sense. Spares are real important on Sunday night coming back from the lake.

Good luck and let us know when you finally get it wet. What prop you starting with? 23" ?

Was Just talking w/ Sleekster and discussed the additional weight I may have added in the rebuild. I like the tire size change Idea lots! We should be able to get all the goodies in the truck and not load the boat, but ya never know!

Yup, my very first prop is a 23. If all goes well it might see water this weekend but more than likely next weekend. One weekend before the Rumble, thats cutting it close!

You isn't to far from us, maybe we do some boating before the season ends?

get the heaviest trailer you can afford...a good friend of mine was using a lightweight trailer for his malibu and just discovered his axles and main frame have bowed, and he is now looking for a replacement trailer.

Just remember, most of us pack all kinds of crap on the boat especially on long trips, and all those pieces really begin to add up.

Scott,

I agree with the other members here - get the best trailer you can afford. My Laser had the Venture 1500 and now that trailer is used to tow my Carolina Skiff J12. The 1500 scared me - even though my 16 Laser was well within it's limitations. For my X-Stream, I got the Venture 2100, and I'm glad I did. It's cheap insurance to spend the extra money now.

The price difference is only $200.00, we do have a tad bit more than that wrapped up in Project Baja! It does make sense to get the better of the two! I would hate to do thousands in dammage to save a couple hundred. Penny wise, pound foolish?
