View Full Version : Bass boats at the Rumble
Sounds as though there will be alot of hot bass boats at Rumble111 , how many of you bass boat guys actually fish? Reason i ask is because myself and a few of the guys from the allison board are going to have a little $10 a guy winner take all bass tournament on sunday mourning 6am - 12pm I already talked to Gary "instagator" and assured him that it wont conflict with the other Rumble happenings and he said it was ok.....has to be sunday cause the drags are on sat and instagator told me i was a pussy if i didnt race my basser and i sure dont wanna be the puss so i'll be drag racin my slow old bass boat on saturday....anyone interested in the tournament let me know.
Later TB
Just got back from the Allison board and one of the guys had a great suggestion , it will be mandatory 1/2 of the total pot will be donated to the Rumble charity the other half to the tournament winner so if theres 20 boats which will be the cut-off ( i doubt there will be that many) but if theres more it will be the first 20 to sign up....anyway 20 boats = $200 , $100 to charity , $100 to winner. Man what a good idea. There are planty o bass boats that can law it down on the 1/4 mile. Eric Saloom , Bruce Bush etc etc etc .
The most disapionting thing at Rumble II was that there was 60% of the boats on the trailer come "race time". You see the Rumble is not about having the fastest boat , but how the guy with the fastest boat can help you get that little bit more out of what you have.
Man I would race if I had a frigginn 15' Allison with a 50hp on it.
There is no embarrassing boats at the Rumble, each one has something we all can learn from. Now when it comes time to party thats when it gets seriuos !!!!!
Jeff
I agree with all you said , ive been to both Rumbles and had a great time but this year im gonna not lay so low , like you said so what if i get put on the trailor 1st run im still gonna have a blast , and BTW i got a spare trolling motor you can hang on your STV if you want in the bass tournament....LOL. Lookin forward to meetin eveyone again , TB

First off, what Yammer said, exactly!
TB21, I hope you know I was serious when we spoke about the bass boats the other day.
My view in a nut shell:
Only thing better than seeing a "fast" guy gettin spnked by a "fiiiisssshhhhhin bote" is getting spanked by one w/a trolling motor on the bow:eek:
I will proudly line my Stream/FrankenRude up against any and all of you and expect to lose to at least one of you.
In all seriousness we as Hi Po O/B'rs have the bassers to thank for all the technoligy (boat and motor) that we got in the mid '80's to at least mid '90's as no one else gave a **** about big O/B's (as consumers) except the bassers.
So I kinda fell like we (Hi Po O/B guys) really kinda owe you.
So bring em on guys, lets see em!!
And to "GottagoFast" how about a 115 inline on a "Vandal" for a fair race?? (my $ is on the Johnny;))
Yammer, do you remember running at Buckeye Lake last year when Jimmy Carter brought out a Johnny power'd Javelin Basser and one of the fastest boats there??
I do:D

Instagator I new you were serious about your comments on bass boats but im gonna have to pull the troll motor to have any chance at all in the Rumble drags , my boat is a different animal when i pull the TM and the 3 - 50.lb batterys and throw a 22 yamaha on , I just cant wait till its time to Rumble , Oh and told allison Ed what you said , he got good laugh and said he'd be there with me. TB, can't imagine your Alli basser less the extra weight and acces:eek:
I paid close attention to how strong it ran at Paint Creek last weekend and that was with the extra cargo!!
I am skeered:eek:
To the rest of you fisherman, I have heard that exact area of river we will be in is one of the best Small Mouth (I think) spots in the country!! I'm not a fisherman, every timne I tried I got drunk before I caught anything but a buzz :D
But have heard this several times from reliable sources.
Gottagofast, the Vandal is being run by Rob Kings son Cory.
The rig is a show piece and I think the motor was stock last time we talked. (don't mean it is now though, knowing Rob:D )
Bottom line though, if you want to race, bring a good jacket/vest, some common since, and we will find you a good match and gurantee you a weekend you won't forget in a long time.
Come and find me when you get to Carrollton, I will help you how ever you need it.

I'll never forget the Bass Tournament on the first day of Rumble 1. I don't think anyone knew they had it planned on the same day of the Rumble.
I was in my tent early that Sat morn and woken by some guy screaming out numbers! Then you'd hear a boat launch HARD :D Then another number and another launch etc. I jumped up thinkin "man this Instigator guy is hard core, the sun ain't even up yet and he's organizing time trials!" I jumped out of tent and saw they were all bass boats but it was still fun watching these overloaded boats get on plane and scream down the river (even if all the motors were stock) :D Then LaveyT wakes up and looks through the window of his van as I'm standing right there, thinking "what is this guys problem!?!" LOL!! Priceless.
As it turned out, most the Rumble attendees had just hit the sack and weren't going (or able) to be on the water till noon :p
Then later that day I spent a good bit of time reviving smallmouth bass at the weigh-in :D Definitely unforgettable! :)

Good to hear there are going to be some fishin' boats at the river. I plan on bringing the new DunnWright bass boat but it won't have a t-motor on it!. Maybe there needs to be a Top Gun race to see who can get to the fishin' holes first. The run what you brung format works good though. All in fun, Right? Yeah, right. Look forward to meeting some of you guys I have done work for. Popslavaz, I will be looing for you. Staying at the days inn and won't get there till late friday. Son has a football scrimmage Friday afternoon and can't miss that .
