I met up with Arnie Brulhardt (oldspiker on the forums) to have a look at his 1963 Thompson SeaCoaster. This boat was owned by his father, and Arnie restored it. It had Mercury power on it since it was new, starting with a 1960 50 HP, then a 1966 65 HP, and now a new 4-Stroke 60. I'm putting together a special feature on this boat, but I thought I would share a few photos.

Very Nice!!!

i saw a similar one at reds fish camp, was a terrible sight in it's final stages of disrepair, made me sick to see an all wood boat falling apart like it was..........

but will never have one. I fear if I did, it would end up like the one in Talons picture. I'm sure wood takes more upkeep that I would give to it. But I do love wood boats.

That's a neat boat. It needs an old 60's motor on it. A local marina owner has one about like it that he bought new and has always kept inside. It's got a 1960 model V75 Johnson and the whole thing is mint. He used to run it regularly back then, but I'd guess it hasn't been wet in at least 25 years. At least it's stored inside.

Ya gotta' love wood! Our original plan was to refurbish an older wooden boat, obviously we found the Baja first but I would still love to tackle wood someday. Nice clean resto! Good job!:)

In the 50's/60's, the Merc dealer around here sold the sleaker stuff and the OMC guys sold more of the family stuff and the Johnson dealer was also the Thompson dealer. I guess that's why the old OMC's seem more natural to me. I don't think I've ever seen an old Thompson with a Merc.
